Summer Program @ Phillips Exeter

So I'm a sophomore right now and I was wondering if anyone has ever been to the summer program at Phillips Exeter in New Hampshire? Or if anyone has heard about whether it is good or not? I'm not really sure if I want to go to it or if it will look good on my resume. Someone help please!

My daughter attended last year after her freshman year. It was a good boarding experience, I think she did gain a lot there, that was the main reason we sent her. More structured than the programs at colleges, they had dorm checkins at 9pm (I think) and permission to go on weekend trips. Because she was on the young side we wanted a HS based program and not a college based one. She enjoyed her classes. One teacher was a regular year teacher, the others I think were grad students.

As for how it will look on your resume, you should think of what you would personally get out of it. I think it is a worthwhile program and you will get grades and comments which you could send to colleges, but it isn't something that is going to get you an enormous boost.

I went to Andover Summer Session and it was amazing! Some of my friends went to Exeter before and thought the workload was easier there, however they were probably in Access Exeter for the younger kids.

i did access exeter as a rising 8th grader
and all i can say to you is GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO!!!!!!!
i cannot rave enough abotu this program
it is truly an amazing experience
i have kept in touch and even met up with many of the kids there
the relationships formed there are unique- the last day of the program is truly moving in that the whole street is lined with sobbing kids

googogogogoogo

My friend went to Exeter for the summer. She said it was fantastic. Her sister goes there now and she's applying as well.

My friend also went to Exeter and she had a great time! I went to the Choate summer program and that was tons of fun too! It's really interesting meeting people from all around the world.

Are these summer programs hard to get in?

bump. how competitive are the admissions for these programs?

there not too difficult

Costs
Boarding tuition for the 2008 Summer School is $6295 for Upper School students. The Access Exeter boarding tuition (for students going into 8th or 9th grade) is $6445 (including the required excursion fee).

i cant even tell u how amazing my experience at the exeter summer session was... it was incredible! i met people from all over the world.. a lot of international kids. there were college tours and other traveling tours, the campus was beautiful, ,, everyone had to take a sport or two,,, sports such as rowing (which i did and then ended up rowing my last two yrs in high school and hopefully in college, so i gained a lot),,,, please do it,,, it was amazing,,,,, its not to diffcult to get in,, but i do know a few that didint get in.... they applied for financial aid, so maybe that was the reason, but i applied for financial aid and only ended up paying 500 for the entire priogram!!! if u do apply for financial aid it is a bit more competitive. but still ddo it!

FA from Exeter and Andover are excellent if you need it.
