<p>I also urge you to let your son attend his same camp for as long as he wants to. My D, a college sophomore now, attended a wonderful general camp for three weeks for ten years (age 7-16). It changed her life.</p>
<p>The last two years she was a "camper leader," a counselor-in-training sort of thing, but the overall effect of the camp taught her to get along in groups, respect authority and organization, and how to quickly understand the flow of complicated organization in a large group. She has not been a summer counselor there as a college student only because she has been able to make much more money in her restaurant server job. </p>
<p>She misses camp so much that we don't speak of it, and I truly hope she will be able to return at least one summer as a counselor.</p>
