Summer Program vs Internship

I've applied to TASP as well as Carnegie Mellon's AP/EA program: both fairly prestigious and not just places for rich high school students to socialize.

However, there are internships within various organizations that I can get if I decided to stay put for the summer.

So I was wondering which one would look better for college admissions?

Which CMU AP/EA program are you talking about, the scholarship diversity one or the one that costs $$?

As there are so few students accepted to the TASP program, I think you would be making a mistake not attending if accepted, if the intent of going was to help your college application. “stand out” from the crowds.

Depends on the internship. I think that will not only make you stand out, but give lots of anecdotes to use in a college essay. But it should be doing something worthwhile, and in your area of “passion”.

I’d skip the CMU program, but I’d definitely consider TASP especially if you can fit it in alongside an internship.
