I've heard things about the summer program, a thing in the summer for admitted students who need help "adjusting" to college life. Who gets invited? Is it mandatory?

You may be talking about Summer Bridge.

I only know two people (brother and sister) who were invited, and their admission to Mich was conditional on attending Bridge. The brother told me that 1/2 the people have to go and 1/2 the people elect to go, but I haven't seen anywhere to apply to Bridge, so I'm not sure.

yeah, i applied to the fall term but they told me that i got accepted to the summer term. and i have to go the summer term before i start my fall term with rest of the people. i am so confuse about this... can anyone help me?

I haven't even received my decision yet, but I'm just curious - How does Mich determine if a person should go to the Bridge Program? If Mich thinks that someone needs help in "adjusting" to college life, why would they even accept that person? I'm confused, it's like they're sending mixed messages.

If you're accepted to the summer program, you're are also accepted to the University. The summer program is for people with good GPA's and low SAT's. Since Michigan focuses primarily upon courseload and grade point average, they will be hesitant to turn away someone with good academic credentials, although they have low SAT's. Therefore, they're admission to the University is contingent on attending the summer program so they will be better prepared for the coming school year.

This is what I've heard from my sister, who is a junior at UMich. She says that several people she knows had to attend the summer program.

so this program is like a summer school for those students who need more help. Does anyone know if the classes are going to be extremely hard and if you dont do well, can mich reject u at that moment?
