Hi, I was just wondering about summer programs that would appeal to universities such as Harvard or Stanford.
I’m thinking around the lines of a program such as RSI or UPenn’s Summer Program. Thanks in advance!

I encourage all people to go to the Duke PreCollege program. You get to take courses with undergrads, official transcript, the works, but you get the benefits of a structured summer program. You meet people from all over the country and you can make the experience as structured or as independent as you want. PM me if you want to know more.

upenn's summer program isn't extremely competitive to get into
rsi of course is amazing, but you shouldn't be doing summer programs just to make your application look stronger
I kno thats not the answer you wanted to hear, but its the answer you deserve

unless it's super prestigious like rsi, it won't make a huge difference. going to a program where you could further pursue a passion which you do not have a lot of time for, or just showing schools you get off your ass during the summer and have a life seems like a positive thing.
most importantly, those pre-college, residential summer programs are always SOO much fun. you live away from home, meet amazing people and live someplace new.

You're right. It is the only reason I'm doing anything this summer.
If Harvard was easy to get into, I'd play water polo and video games all day.
But it isn't.....;)

try to get into a Governor's school in your state...those are generally very competitive in that area...For me, I applied to the Governor's School for Global Entrepreneurship in Pennsylvania...the acceptance rate there was 11% in that pool of students.

I went to the Indiana State University Summer Honors Camp. Prestigious, yes, I know... you can pay homage later.

I'm applying to Columbia, MIT, Duke, Caltech by the way, and I'm pretty confident about my chances. But any serious summer study will probably help you out.

My friend did the Columbia summer program and loved it. He got in ED at Columbia without stellar scores (1420 I, 2220 IIs) and thinks that the summer program helped him over the hump.

yea going to a school's summer program can help very very slightly (as in, you and another person are IDENTICAL and you went to their program in the summer, you would get in over them)
