Hi everyone, I’ve heard the summer before senior year is crucial to college apps, and I really want to to make something meaningful out of it. I’m currently looking for more highly selective, prestigious programs in the field of law/politics to apply to, in case YYGS doesn’t work out. Hopefully my high GPA and SAT/PSAT scores will be of some benefit in the application process.
I know many pre-collegiate summer programs carry a hefty price tag and accept most people who apply, so that’s definitely not what I want to attend. I found out about TASP way too late to apply. I’ve looked into the senate page program, but honestly I can’t find concise information on it and another source said California senators rarely take on pages? But that is definitely something I’m interested in!
Thanks in advance!
There are not as many programs around that are not science and math related. You could check out Georgetown University’s summer programs, they tend to focus more on history/law/politics. Also, being located in DC they have a lot of day trips/speakers relating to or originating from capital hill, supreme court, and congress.
The U.S. Naval Academy has a summer seminar program. Some of these programs are humanities related, although many are STEM.
Carleton College has summer programs in the humanities with selective admission. Some application deadlines have passed, but not all.
