I was wondering if not attending any summer programs will affect my university admission chances. I am currently a junior, and I have not attended any summer programs for the past 2 summers due to family commitments, and I will not be attending one this summer as I was rejected to one I had applied, and it was already too late to apply to anything worth going? I am planning to just study for the SATs this summer, and just improve my grades and be prepared for the 2nd year IB? I will also be volunteering at several places, and I signed myself up for an outdoor adventure thing... I really hope that university AOs won't think that I'm wasting my life away? I just really need some assurance that not going to summer programs will affect my university chances... I will be applying to 1 or 2 ivies, and several public ivies, and I am an international student from canada.

I don’t think a lack of summer programs will hurt you, but having selective programs under your belt (aka the ones you DON’T need to pay more than 5k for) can certainly help.

So no, don’t stress about it.

ok thanks!
