Does anyone know anything about the MPulse's vocal arts workshop? I'm specifically curious about any information that compares it to Boston Conservatory's vocal/choral intensive.

No Cherubs mail here yet, theater mom!

The waiting is tiresome but I shouldn’t complain. Next year will really try our patience.

We still haven't heard from NHSI regarding cherubs application yet. Glad to know we're in good company! When we called to make sure they had received all components of the application on March 5th, she said we would know by the end of March "at the latest". So, my D is stressing because as she said yesterday, "we are already at the end of March!" Patience, patience. I told her to get used to the waiting!

I know someone who received notification of acceptance to Cherubs last year on March 26. The year before that, I know someone who got in on March 25. So, I imagine it will be any day now.

My son just received his Cherubs acceptance letter today, which includes the Musical Theatre extension. The program looks wonderful! His audition for CAP21 is this weekend, and he recently sent off his application to Carnegie Mellon's summer MT program. He has to send his deposit to NHSI by April 3rd - probably too soon to hear from the other two. Does anyone know if NHSI will give extra time for a student to make a decision pending responses from other programs?

terig, we also heard from Cherubs today. As usual, soozievt is "spot on" with her info! ;)

Hi all! Just wanted to share that I just got accepted to Brown's TheatreBridge program! I'm still waiting on word from Tisch, but am really excited that I actually got into a summer program(have never done one before)! and unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to attend Brown because of financial constraints(didn't get a scholarship/financial aid)...but I'm really happy nonetheless on the acceptance!

Yes! We just got back this evening from a college visit and my D received her acceptance letter from NHSI! She's very excited. They sure don't give you much time to get that deposit back, huh? Maybe they need to see how many positions they have to offer for regular admission. Susievt, what DON'T you know?? I mean, really, the DATE that our kids would get their acceptance letters!

My daughter got her letter today, too, but the application was deferred. This is too bad since she had decided (unknown to me) that she preferred Cherubs to CMU or Interlochen. It now looks as if she will be considered with everyone who sent an application after March 6 and will not hear before May 1. However, we need to return the CMU application (2nd choice) before April 13. Sooze, do you happen to know if NW ever sends 2nd round acceptances BEFORE May 1? Oh, and, by the way, is it worth waiting?

Congratulations to all who got some good news today! Terig, I don't have any special mental prediction powers, LOL....or any inside knowledge from any schools.....but I do save everything....and I have had several students whom I have advised on summer program applications and I have every email filed and so I simply went back through a couple kids for you guys and see the date when these kids sent me their happy acceptance news and so I figured it might help you to know when they heard in the past. So, ha ha, it ended up pretty exact for this year....who'd have thunk it? But hey, Northwestern must have been busy with mail today because the regular college decisions also were received by many today and in fact, the one student I had who applied to NU this year (had attended Cherubs last summer) got into Northwestern today.

Theater mom, I can't answer your question....because every student I have helped with Northwestern applied by March 6 and got accepted by late March. It is good that your D is defered though and so she still has a chance. That said, if I were you, I would proceed as if Cherubs is not going to come through because you don't want to lose a spot at these other great programs (CMU and Interlochen are both fabulous programs). I would not wait and take a chance. Either your D would have to decide on a program without Cherubs in the mix or else I don't know the amount of the deposit at CMU or what you would lose to back out on May 1 should she get into Cherubs. I just think if you wait and do not enroll by the deadline at another program, your D could conceibably end up without a program and that would be a shame when she is sitting on two great programs already. Yes, Cherubs is great but it is not better than the other two. They are just different. But rather than take the time right now to compare them, the issue is that your D doesn't have all these cards in her hand right now and so she has to proceed before knowing the outcome of the deferral. I would inquire at CMU when the last possible date is to pull out of the deposit without losing it or a portion of it. OR, I would enroll at CMU or Interlochen and be happy and call it a day.

Susan, this is OT, but I happened to see your name as I was reading this thread. Is your D going to the main NYU commencement this year? Hillary is going to be the speaker.

Yes, we are going to both the NYU graduation at Yankee Stadium and the Tisch graduation at Madison Square Garden. Didn't know about Hillary but that is very cool! Thanks for mentioning. Will try to email you when I get a chance. My oldest is home for just a couple of days and also it is the time of year when advisees are hearing from colleges. :D

Hi there Soozievt and everyone-
My D has been accepted at several summer MTprograms and is struggling with her decision-This is a GOOD problem to have, I know!!!!! I do not know how to help her with this decision, however. She is uncertain as to BFA or BA for college. Of course, that will likely be influenced by her summer experience. We had been settled on WHill but now-well, more options. D will be 18 this summer-being around others the same age is imp't. along with everything else that will make it an enjoyable learning experience. And ultimately help her decide on her college plans.
Accepted to : Walnut Hill, Syracuse, OCU,NW Cherubs,CAP21
Still waiting for: Interlochen, CMU, MPulse and Steinhardt.
Any thoughts and advice is much appreciated. And CONGRATS to all the other accepted students - and their parents!!!

They are all great. My D had a choice between CAP21, Cherubs and CMU and picked based on the school she was most likely wanting to go to for college (and more likely able to get into--Northwestern would have been a non-starter in that regard!) in order to check out the program and also to see if she liked living in NYC. But you really can't go wrong!!

The list for the Interlochen High School Musical Theatre Production has come in in so you should be receiving the results soon :)

It really did help to tell my D that someone knowledgeable says that all three (Cherubs/CMU/Interlochen) are great programs.

onlygirl- Was your acceptance to CAP21 the audition based program, or the CAP21 through NYU. I applied to the program through NYU and have not received anything yet. Has anyone heard yet from NYU's CAP21 program? I am guessing it is also too early for Mpulse.

i applied to NYU's ETW summer and haven't heard anything yet. probably within the next few weeks since they said by "Early April"

I was accepted to Stagedoor Manor this summer, and I'm so excited to go! I attended a week-long MT program at Baldwin-Wallace last summer, and I absolutely loved it. It's only open to Ohio residents, though, and the audition is for placement after you've already been accepted.
I'm looking for something to do next summer, and I'd really like to do a couple programs if I can, and at schools that I'd like to look into for college. I'm thinking CAP21 at NYU, or if there's anything at Harvard, Northwestern, Carnegie Mellon, CCM, Boston Conservatory, etc...
Any ideas? I'll be a rising senior next summer.
