Summer programs for 9th graders who are interested in Maths and Computer Science

Hi all,

Can you advise me on summer programs that are good for rising sophomores interested in math and computer science?

I have heard about following:
Stanford pre collegiate institute:

Cosmos:
Science Internship program
Texas State University Honors Math Camp
The Ross Program

The problem is - these programs primarily consider rising juniors, or rising seniors and are very selective in admission process.

Don’t want to bank on a few highly selective programs. Are there any other good options for rising sophomores?

Here’s a program at the University of Wisconsin - Accelerated Learning Program

What else is your student interested in? We always used summer programs to develop interests that were not related to school academic subjects.

Electric Car design would probably use both those skills http://futurestudents.mst.edu/summercamps/formula/

Design and build a micro satellite http://futurestudents.mst.edu/summercamps/spacefrontier/

Look there…a whole forum about HS summer programs.

Rising sophomores are accepted into Stanford but you are right, very competitive. Also try the other UC summer programs, like UC Irvine and UCSD Academic Connections - they have rolling admissions so it’s easier to plan. Good Luck!
