Summer Programs for Freshman

Can anyone recommend a couple of summer programs for 9th graders.
I'm fourteen and in my freshman year of high school. I'm looking for a good summer program this year, but most of them (RSI, SSP, TASP, MITES) all seem to be sophmore year and beyond.

I live in NJ, so places like Princeton, MIT... would be best. Less well known colleges are also acceptable.

Preferably, these summer programs should be less than ~100 dollars to apply and as tuition.
Also, they should look good on college applications, and be geared towards science and mathematics.

Also, is it okay to apply for independent research as a freshman? How would I do something like that? Could I go to a college and help a professor on his/her research?

Thank you!

try math camp…HCSSIM, PROMYS, ROSS etc.

there’s also a math camp at Rutgers if you want to stay in NJ

As a freshman independent research might be a stretch unless you personally know a professor or something and they get you connected.
