Summer programs for High School students

My daughter is in 8th grade, and she wants to attend a summer program that will be academic but also fun. She is taking the SAT in January because two of her summer program choices required certain academic level. She wants to go to Duke during the summer, but I was wondering if someone knew about any other summer program out there appropriate for a freshman-to-be.
We currently do not live in the U.S. but we are citizens, and we may need financial help.
Thanks in advance.

CC has a whole forum for summer programs, this thread is a good place to start: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/summer-programs/1277483-summer-programs-start-looking-winter.html

Thanks!
I will check

Will you plan to travel here with your child for the summer, or would your child be travelling alone? If you are coming as well, and staying with family (I used to do that when I was outside the US), there may be a decent option right where you will be living.

Yes, I will be traveling with her. My middle son will be moving to the U.S. because he is a senior and will graduate in June 2013. I will help him move to his college of choice (depending on where he decides to go), but must likely it will be UCF in Orlando, FL where my oldest son lives (he is a junior at UCF).
My daughter really wants to go to one of the Duke TIP programs, but it all depends on one, if she gets accepted, and two financial options.
Thanks for the advise… I will continue my search and start applying soon.

Depends on her interests.
There are summer programs that I’ve heard of people going to at
Phillips Exeter Academy, Northwestern, USC, UCLA; probably many colleges in your area.
Also, there is a whole section on college confidential:
go to discussion home, scroll to bottom of page, select summer programs
