summer programs for sophomores?

I'm a sophomore and was wondering what are some summer programs available for me as the ones I read here are mainly for juniors. I was all excited about LEAD and a few others until I found out I'm not even allowed to apply. I started considering summer college credits from stanford, harvard, cmu... but then some of you guys say its useless. so the same question, what are my options for a quality summer cos i don't wanna just waste another one.

p.s. money is not a problem when considering summer programs.

They're not useless. It's just that they're not very selective compared to like TASP and RSI and stuff. But if you like them and can pay for them, I don't see why you shouldn't go.

And SSP, HSHSP, TASS, PROMYS, ROSS, and MATHCAMP all accept sophomores, so you might want to check those ones out too.

Telluride Association Sophomore Seminar is pretty freaking sweet, if humanities/social sciences with an African-American studies focus are your cup of tea.

From what I've seen just about every summer program is for current Juniors. Are there any summer programs for current sophomores that I can do? I'm looking for some in math/science.

College Confidential's Advanced Search helped me find these earlier threads:

My son has been in one residential summer program or another beginning with the summer after sixth grade. There is a good variety of programs for all ages in math and science--he started day commuter programs younger than that.

Please ask follow-up questions as needed.

Hello, I'm interested in Business, Music, Urban Studies, and Creative Writing. Are there any free programs (or ones you can apply for a scholarship) that I can sign up for? I'm also African-American. Any help? I've been looking. Can't find any!

Can anyone tell me any? Im applying to CMU SAMS. Anything else?

What is ur view on COSMOS or the Young scholars program as UC Davis?

BUMP!!!! please answer someone!!

There's TASS.
Considering it's the "sophomore TASP", I'd say it's pretty awesome.
(:

The emphasis of TASS is very different from TASP, from the website:

"African American high school sophomores, high school sophomores from other historical minorities as well as high school sophomores with an interest in African Amercian studies are especially encouraged to apply."

It is not just a sophomore version of TASP.

but im not african american . . . nor am i interested . . . er, do you have a science related good program for sophomores?

Aspects of TASS are science related. Last summer i did TAss, and my seminar was on epiedimology, and that is science related.

Also TASS is not just for AA, there were several students at TASS that were not AA. LIKE 10 out of 30

most science research/internship programs are limited to juniors, so i was wondering whether there are any particularly prestigious programs for freshmen or sophomores? i know of TASS for the liberal arts, that you can apply for an NIH internship...

A lot of subject-specific programs, some with very good financial aid, are open to sophomores or younger students. Typically math programs (the kind I'm most personally familiar with) involve taking a qualification quiz as part of the application process. I'm replying here so that people who know about writing-oriented or other humanities programs will also see the thread.
