I'm enrolled in summer courses that will last from the middle of June to the first week of August. However, I'm reaching the end of my junior year, and I'd like to do something beyond summer school during my last high school summer. I admit that I haven't looked too hard, but my searches haven't really turned up any major programs that take place during the few weeks that I am free. Are there any prestigious (or otherwise valuable) summer programs or college-level courses that occur exclusively in August?

This is something I’m looking an answer to as well. I’ve looked everywhere, too.

I’m going to be at a program from June 20th - July 31st. So from August 1st - I think the 24th when school starts again, I’m free as well. Personally I think I’ll just be working in the lab of a local university and summer reading (which I’m bound to put off till last minute).

I really doubt there are any formal summer programs and exist in the few weeks during August. I could be wrong but the best bet may be to just seek out some local activity, volunteer, or do some free-lance research and self-teach yourself something about a subject you have an interest in (I think I’d like to watch video-lectures in Physics online).

Though thats just me.

I’m wondering the same thing. If anyone knows any programs or internships that allow for participation in august, please reply. If I don’t find anything, I’ll just try volunteering, even though its kinda hard to find a place that will accept a volunteer for only one month.

There’s a writing program at Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington, MA. It goes from July 25th - August 14th.
