@White_Rabbit that is pretty accurate.

@julia1414 T donāt know to much about Duke TIP but I do know CTY is prestigious. In general those gifted seraches are pretty prestigious but mainly in middle school and elementary school.

@mrnephew EPGY isnāt that prestigious, but I live in the bay area and it seems fairly cool.

SIMR is great.
Also the Stanford Earth Sciences Internship.

Anyone know any good mathematics ones around Boston? Preferably one for a first timer (Iāve only done one and it was a week long), after sophomore year?

So im planning on applying to Simons, Clarks, HSHSP, and NIH. Is it worth it to apply for RSI, SIMR, or Clarks b/b of the low acceptance rates? If I donāt apply for SIMR, RSI, or Clarks, I will have more time to spend on the other application essays.

@kool814 RSI, probably not (unless youāre a crazy genius or something). But you might have a chance at SIMRāmy cousin went this year and she said it was really great. Depends on your stats, though. Sheās only gotten one B in high school (freshman year honors English; she got an 89.7) and sheās taking a lot of hard classes; her SAT I score is a 2290 (I donāt know the specifics) and she got a 780 on the SAT II Chem (Iām not sure about Bio, but she took that as well).

Do ballet summer intensives look good on college applications? Iām thinking of applying to the cypb intensive.

Itāll show commitment for sure. Is ballet a big part of your life?

Yeah, i love it with all my heart.

Then do it.

Also, does anyone know how good Summer Science Program is? Is it better than COSMOS? Iām thinking of applying this summer.

All this stuff is too darn expensive. I really want to do CTY and I am eligible but 4k for summer program? No thanks. That is equivalent to a semester tuition at my private school.

I am looking for a pre-college program that might look good on college applications. Iām an intl student and currently a hs junior! Thanks

I forgot to say, Iām interested in international relations, leadership, math, finance, economics and business and going to apply to several Ivies next fall! Let me know please.

Is TASP still relevant these days? In terms of prestige, when Ivies look at it?

A lot of people are bringing up research programs, but how about programs in which you can receive attend courses and potentially receive college credit? Are they of any benefit? Examples would be ATDP and Stanfordās Pre-Collegiate Studies.

And when I say benefit, I mean do these courses bolster someoneās college application more/less than research programs?

Im considering a math camp this summer but theyāre either prestigious or itās Awesome Math Camp (Which is >4000 EXPENSIVE). Anyone know any other camps I can consider thatās cheaper or I can get financial aid from? Rising junior; Im still going to apply to those other math camps but the chances are slim in my perspective.
Also, any other considerable camps for science? The ones Iāve seen so far are mostly in the west coast but I live in Virginia soā¦
Iām looking for math camp or classes yes CLASSES for precalculus. I need to get a head start because Iām in algebra 2 honors now and Iām not doing too well. A fellow classmate is doing awesome because she went to a math camp over the summer. Are there any in the tristate area (residential or commute prefer residential) that will TEACH precalc and not do the awfully math thinking and concepts like āTeams A B C were in a race and team A got 10 pts who won 2nd event? etc.ā
Thank you so much.
Also what about virtual high schools? the one I found online has a precalc course for 8 weeks (perfect for summer) that will give me a headstart. Should I just start there?
Also Iām not looking into prestigious math camps, Iām not skilled at precalc yet so I need to LEARN not show off my precalc skills (which I have none anyways haha).
@penngirlpendingā I know some kids go to like those Asian prep schools and I had a friend that took a math class at our local CC as a prequel
