I have just come to the terrifying realization that I need to do something with my summer. I am a junior this year and have participated in academic programs for the past two summers, but I feel as though this "is it" and I need to broaden myself and set myself apart. That being said, I just started trawling the internet for information on hard-to-get-into/excellent summer programs for rising high school seniors that are impressive to colleges (I know that sounds horrible, but it would definitely be a plus), and to my horror, I found that many of the programs have admissions deadlines that have already passed.

Does anyone know of any pretty prestigious programs that have admissions deadlines that have not yet passed? I'm not very well-versed on the subject of summer programs, so I have trouble identifying the notable/reputable ones.

Any help would be tremendously appreciated!

The High School Honors program at Boston U. has a May 15 deadline. The cost is roughly $6k for 6 weeks, and you can do either 2 college courses or a science-based internship. If you want to apply for financial aid the deadline is April 20.

The app materials aren't hard to get at all, and if you're pulling B+'s in honors classes and got a 1250 on the SAT (CR/Math) you should be in good shape. I applied with grades slightly above that and a 141 (CR/Math) on the PSAT, so I think I'm in good shape. I hear back from them next week.

I love science, but I'm ironically not amazing at math, so an intensive math program is not for me. I'm very much into writing as well, though not necessarily journalism; basically anything science or humanities/writing related would be best.

I've also looked extensively into the NBTC program, but one of my best friends is applying, so I'm finding it a little difficult to bring myself to apply as well. I think that there's a very small chance of them accepting two students from the same school...does anyone else agree? It would be amazing if we both got in, but I don't want to somehow 'ruin' her chances. (Not that I'm a more competitive applicant than her...I just don't what to get accepted instead of her and have it cause tension in our friendship. If that makes sense...)
