summer programs

I am trying to decide what to do next summer and let my parents know ahead of time. I want to apply to the TASP program, but it runs all summer. However, I have heard it is a very competative and worth while program, should I consider it? Also, I would like to take some classes at the Fashion Institute of Tech. and/or Parsons, which school has a better reputation in the fashion world? Would it look better to take a more academically geared course? The last option I am looking at is a trip to Spain in which I would take Spanish classes at a local university and stay in Madrid. I have been to Spain twice in the last two years with school so maybe I should try something different...Any input would be great. I want something that will look good for college since its the summer before senior year. Thanks.

come on...anyone

decidenow,
What will look good on college applications will likely be whatever you're really interested in and something that is consistent with your other academic or EC interests. It's really a question you have to answer for yourself.

That said, TASP is a 6 week program (not quite all summer). It is free to all that make the cut, but getting there includes writing several thoughtful essays and an interview. Interviews are in March, but you won't find out if you're accepted until early May. Yes, it is a well respected program, often thought of as the Humanities equivalent of RSI.

Have you thought of applying for an apprenticeship, volunteering, or getting a job? These are also summer activities that can broaden the breadth or depth of your interests.
