Summer Programs

Since COVID is currently happening, there isn’t anything I can think of to do this summer for college apps safely; however, I was wondering anyone has any suggestions or ideas regarding anything I could contribute to online over the summer. I’ve tried looking into maybe MS things to do over the summer since it is a topic close to me, but I don’t know

There are a lot of online coding camps if you want to try that. You could also take some online classes at a community college.

@alanna27 We recently received a similar question and wrote this article to cover the topic in depth. You can read more at this link: https://insights.collegeconfidential.com/how-rising-seniors-can-prepare-for-college-summer

@alanna27 I’m just reposting what i saw @USCinnovator write on the “Summer programs that look good on college applications” thread (applications close in 4 days)

@alanna27 , I have a some experience with research (published in MICCAI, won a few fairs like JSHS and MSEF, etc.). A few friends and I (some ISEF grand prize winners, RSI alumni, JSHS National winners, etc.) have created a new association called IPARS (check out our website at ipars.org or hsresearch.org), and we’re actually doing 1-1 mentoring on a research project of your choice.

This is a great opportunity since it’s completely free, there’s chances to publish a paper in our journal and participate in our online science fair (free prizes), and learn from the cream of the crop in terms of high school research. Also, if you do well enough in a state fair/our fair, you can even become a mentor/secure an internship through us! If you’re interested, please go to our website and sign up on the mentoring program page!

Can anyone recommend good programs specifically for freshman to apply to? I really want to do something that will give me a good experience and look good on apps
