I'm a junior in high school, look at possibly apply early decision to Dartmouth. I'm concerned about admissions, and I was wondering how much a few things I have done helps. Last summer I did marine biology research at USC, and for this summer I got accepted to the Simons Summer Research Fellowship at Stony Brook University, where I will be working in the Department of Ecology and Evolution. I have 2 B's on my transcript and I was worried they would affect me. How much would these summer activities help my application?

P.S. In addition, I have done research in the past with much success in competitions.

Don’t worry about two B’s. I had 4 or 5. Instead, worry about writing a good essay – even if you have a 4.0, if you have a terrible essay, you will not get in.

and summer activities sound good, don’t worry too much about them!

Any activity only helps your application if you position it in a way to do so. If these programs are paid for, however, it’s harder to position them successfully.
