Can anyone clarify...? I can't find a straight answer on if summer reading is for transfers or not..

If so - what are the group discussions like?

When I transferred, I got credit for the two freshmen writing seminars. If this isn't the case for you and you have to make one or two of them up (some people do expository writing instead so they don't have to be with freshmen), then you'll probably have assignments on it.

I read the book....but didn't write the essay or go to the panel discussion.

^ Seriously? It isn't required?

I will have credit for my two English classes when I transfer in.

It's essentially required if you're taking an FWS in the fall since you read and turn in your essay during class. Since I didn't take an FWS and attendance isn't taken at the panel, I didn't bother doing it.

How do you know if you have to take a FWS? I assume that's freshman writing seminar?

Yeah...as long as your 2 semesters of freshman english transfer in, you don't need to take a freshman writing seminar.

I got 4s on both AP English Language and English Literature and also took my freshman writing at my previous school, so I think I passed out of FWS (and thankfully, summer reading/writing too)!
