I know everyone is tired of these threads, but I feel like CC people really like to post classics/books you read in school....
Can someone give me some good books that are NOT like those mentioned above? I would like some light, easy to read, enjoyable books! Nothing deep or dramatic or depressing! I still like young adult books, so feel free to put those down too.

What NOT to include: anything you have read in school!!!!!!!!

Some books I like:
Harry Potter/Twilight (I know...so typical)
Dan Brown=amazing
Alex Rider
Nancy Drew (yes, I know this is a little kids book. I like it anyway!!!!!)
Mysteries in general

Easy Reads Try these: (All by Margaret Peterson Haddix)
Among the Hidden
Among the Impostors
Among the Betrayed
Among the Barrons
Among the Brave
Among the Enemy
Among the Free
Turnabout
Running Out of Time (I HIGHLY recommend this)
Just Ella
anything else by Haddix- I haven’t found anything by her that I don’t like. And they’re ALL very EASY reads.

Try the Giver and And then There Were None

I read those both in school (middle school), but they are both GREAT

Harry Potter, Dan Brown, John Grisham, a LOT of “chick flick” esque books.
I’m currently reading a book called Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn…it’s depressing but pretty good.

Oh try the Clique series if you want something really amusing. (It’s about 7th grade girls wearing designer clothes and living ‘the’ lifestyle. It’s really kind of satire-ish, though I don’t think it was meant to be that way.)

Thanks everyone! I love young adult books because you don’t have to think and you can just read! FOR FUN! Without analyzing!

I have read the Uglies/Pretties series, as well as House of the Scorpion and a few Haddix books, the Giver, and And Then There Were None (which I loved!).

@musicallylatin - I was actually considering reading 1984 just because everyone says it is so good…so it’s fine you put it on there. I can maybe use a few deeper books

I know you’ll hate this suggestion, but KURT VONNEGUT. I would start out with Cat’s Cradle. Yes its deep, and a little depressing, but its also hilarious and very easy to read. Same goes for Slaughterhouse Five. And as for what you’re looking for I remember really liking this book called The Phantom Tollbooth when I was younger. Its a bit of kid’s book but no more so than Harry Potter. And Life of Pi is a good, easy read also.

Try The Celebutantes Series. It is actually a really cool series, and I read two of the books so far. And I’m a guy. And it’s cool, even though it’s about hot triplet girls who go around and solve intense mysteries in heels ;)

I second the Uglies series. Personally I think the plot could’ve gone deeper than it did, but the concept of the Uglies series is amazing and post-apocalyptic-eque XD

Prep. I swear this is a good book, even if I get flamed for it. I never found Lee’s narrative style “complainy” and actually think the book is quite accurate (not entirely accurate) in portraying prep school life. Even if you read it before, read it again. I love prep (:

Looking for alaska by john green. i absolutely adore this book.

jodi picoult and sarah dessen are good for summer reading, also because i know at least one of sarah dessen’s books take place in summer.

i suggest reading over a lot of books you read some years before when you thought you’d see all the meaning and messages behind the book and all, and see how much more you can find now. i read matilda over again for chrissake and it was kick ass :)
