anyone know if any summer reading book(s) for the fall term have been posted yet ? Or if the fr studies books have been posted?

what has the school sent the new student? What does the web site say?

A letter with the first book included, will arrive early in August from Tim Spurgin, the freshman studies director, explaining the course.

I could not find anything on the website, nor did I recall seeing something from LU via regular mail - that is why I was throwing it out here on CC.

So the students wait til Aug for summer reading (or if they want to get a head start on the Fall curriculum).

It may be posted earlier on the website- not sure. And early August is what I remember, give or take... Remember, LU freshmen don't arrive on campus until late September. My daughter had read it well in advance of the start of the term. The letter from Tim Spurgin explains the whole freshman studies curriculum in a nice way, and again, the package includes the first book.

If by "the Fall curriculum," you mean Freshman Studies, then I suppose you could write the current director of the program and ask him to send you a list. If, however, you are referring to other courses you are, or might be, taking, several professors have online syllabi for their courses. Those might contain lists of works. But beware: (1) you might not actually end up taking the courses you think you will be taking--except in the case of Freshman Studies, and (2) the online syllabi might not be up to date.

I recommend that you read the book you get from the FS director--read it carefully--and enjoy the summer.

Plato's The Republic is read every year, if you want to get a start on that. :P I'm pretty sure most of the other books change from year to year.

I did a quick search on the Lawrence website and I think this is the reading list for this year: Lawrence Freshman Studies Current Works

Have at. They'll most likely mail you the Kafka book; that's what they did last year. :)

D just recvd the Metamorphosis by Kafka in the mail. cool.

I got it last week and I'm really confused about the course registration right now. Sent an email to the dean but looks like he's out of office until Jul, 14.
