Does it ever happen that a student is rejected from a highly competitive precollege MT summer program but actually makes it in for the university MT program? The rejection letter says to be sure to audition in the fall for MT at the university but shouldn't this be the first school to strike from the list? If anyone had any success going from rejection to acceptance, what changes did you make?

I know a girl who got rejected for the MPulse summer program, but got into the UMich BFA Musical Theatre program.

Depending on the school, some of the summer programs are run independently of the regular college MT programs, even though they are run through the school. Also, even if they are run by the same group, there may be completely different people running the college audition process. I definitely would not rule out that school without investigating more. Good luck!

I really don’t know anything about any of the other programs, but i can comment on the University of Michigan’s program, since my D attended.

We know several kids who were not accepted to MPULSE, but are current MT students at UMICH…we also know many who were accepted to MPULSE but did not gain acceptance to the school…
