This summer I was planning on doing some sort of research; however, because of Covid-19, none of the opportunities I had applied for are available anymore. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any internships or research opportunities that could be a possibility for this summer? I am double majoring in biology and biomechanics and minoring in chemistry and would be willing to do basically any sort of science related internship or research at this point.
I’m in the same exact position. I was going to receive a paid internship!!! I’m so mad about it. I’m eager to hear from anyone that has answers from us.
how do you guys research/internship opportunities to begin with? haha
i’m a community college student and i really want to intern/do some research this summer but i have no idea where to start (nor think it’s possible because i’m in nj where the virus is particularly bad D:
@transferx Your CC should have a lot of resources for you! Think back to the courses you’ve taken, and choose a particularly interesting topic that you think you’d never get bored of. If your CC is opening up for the summer, try reaching out to/cold-emailing a few professors in this subject to see if they are willing to mentor you. You can also always work on your own research project (or form a group with a few ambitious friends) and have a mentor look it over for you every now and then.
Lab research is a different story—if you are aiming to perform research in a lab, I’m not sure you’ll be able to unless your CC or a nearby college opens up.
