<p>I'm posting here because I suspect some of you were involved in summer research programs as an undergrad. </p>
<p>To begin, I'm an engineering major. I need to start applying for research programs for the summer of 2013. I don't want to limit my applications to domestic programs only such as REUs. I would love to live in another country and do research there for the summer, preferably in Europe. </p>
<p>Have any of you guys done something like this in another country?</p>
<p>I searched, though not extensively, summer programs in other countries. It seems for a lot of these programs, you are not compensated for your time and that housing and travel expenses must be provided by the student. There was one I saw that even required the student to pay tuition fees while they're there for the summer. This seems like the opposite of REUs. I could have misunderstood what some of the websites stated, but this is a general vibe I'm getting from these programs.</p>
