I have a research oppurtunity and a volunteer opportunity lined up and im wondering which one all of you would choose. Im actually not only doing the volunteer for college, i genuinely want to help people, but im wondering if the research would be a better use of my time and a better hook for college.

I would personally choose the research opportunity because research is a better hook than volunteering. This is my opinion of course, you can probably find someone out there that would say volunteering is better than researching.

Choose the research opportunity because it is very rare to have an opportunity to research while in high school. You can volunteer almost anywhere, but research is hard to come by if you are not yet a college student. Maybe you could do both this summer? Research during the day, and volunteer a couple nights a week or in the evening?

that would be quite time consuming but possible.. go for whatever you desire

personally i'm going to volunteer a lot over summer... but that's only because i enjoy volunteer work. i derive a lot of satisfaction from it.. not to mention i'm president for our school key club (although not politcally correct, it promotes good ideas although the kids don't necessarily join for volunteering but for the club on their resume)

but enough rambling..

do whatever makes you feel good
