Summer Research

So I contacted a professor at a local, well-known university and asked if I could participate in research in his lab. He replied saying that he won’t have time this summer to get me started on a project. However, I don’t intend to pursue an independent project - I don’t have very much experience in the field, and I just want to accumulate as much knowledge as I can in his lab over the summer and I’m also willing to do grunt work if necessary. Should I email him back to clarify? I don’t want to come off as pushy. Please help!

bump - anyone?

Meh. Sounds like the prof is not that interested. Would something like this be interesting to you?
