Summer Research

I am a junior student living in Ontario Canada. Summer is fast approaching and I am wondering how to get a research position at a university.

Thanks.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is extremely late to be looking for research internships, especially at other schools. For those offering, you typically need to apply with recommendations, transcripts and an essay and the deadlines are typically in the early spring so that they can pick from multiple applicants.

That said, you could start with the department head for your major to see if they have any positions available. You could also try other departments in your university. Here you are relying on your reputation at your university to get into a position that may or may not be funded so you may have to sell yourself. Professors that you know or in your department may be aware of positions in other universities that may be available so you might send emails to them or stop by their offices and ask.

The economy has been tough in the US (don’t know about Canada) so there has been a lot of competition for research positions and lots of students probably did apply earlier so there may be little to nothing left. But you can always try.

Sorry, I’m a high school student. I don’t mind if it’s unpaid work.
