Summer scholars & merit/financial aid?

Hello all,

My D (current HS junior) got a call from a student at Pace about a month ago. Ever since then Pace is at the TOP of her list.

This student told her he was a theatre major and in honors and that “he only pays a little tuition and room/board.” He had most of his tuition paid for. He also told her about Pace’s Summer Scholars program, which is sponsored by their Honors College and has an MT track.

So D inquired…there were still openings in MT. And she sent off application. We should hear in 2-3 weeks.

So I have two questions for those of you familiar with Pace:

–Do participants in the Summer Scholars MT Track actually work with ongoing Pace MT faculty? I thought I had read somewhere that Amy Rogers participats in Arts Edge or Arts Bridge… Any general info on Summer Scholars would be appreciated.

–I did the merit aid calculator and it said $16-17K, but tuition is $35K and housing is $14… uh, we can’t handle $32-34K a year. Are there other funds that bridge that gap? My D didn’t ask the student caller if that included financial aid based on FAFSA or merit aid or what. We are in the black hole of middle class, so the only FA she would get is unsubsidized loans and we don’t want her to graduate with a lot of debt.

My D’s stats:

4.0 UW GPA, 4.5-4.6 W GPA
-3APs this year; 5 next year
-Honors, Gifted core courses
-35 ACT
-NHS/BETA Officer, Spanish Honor Society, Dance Team, Talented Theatre, Band, Choir
-Community Service
-Part-time job
-Been in community/school musicals since she was 10
-Dance since 3

Thanks in advance for any info you could share!

sent you a PM

Bumping this thread to see if either of you could give me more information about the Pace Summer Scholars program. I created another thread but was afraid you might not see that and hopefully you’re subscribed to this one.

I’m interested in any and all information you could provide regarding the program!
