How hard is it to get into summer programs. I’m thinking about the ones at Cornell, Harvard, UVA, Chicago to name a few. Thanks for your help.

they are not very competitive....anyone with good grades and a rec gets in.

My S did Cornell and loved it.

thanks, i was only slightly worried to begin w/ but thanks for the reassurance

I'm attending one at Columbia this summer

did he join the Summer college program ( a structured program in a specific field of interest such as Engineering , architecture, etc ) or did he join the Summer session ( courses ) ?? If it was the summer session, were the courses any good?

what program are you going for? are they still accepting applications?

I think the deadline passed already for the HS summer program. I sent mine in early April. Taking a political science class

I got into the Stanford's summer school, but decided not to go as it's not worth the outrageous amount of money they ask for.

One kid in my school got into Harvard's, and he is DEF not that bright. He had 1160 SAT and 3.5GPA and like three or four IB classes. He is going though.

I'm headed to Cornell's architecture summer program this summer, has anyone here done it?
Before I applied, I had a meeting with an architecture admissions counselor (information session) and we got on the topic of this program and she said she didn't know that they ever rejected anyone...I think simply because the cost of the program causes it to yield a low volume of apps. However, if you try to do any of the more elite (i.e. FREE) programs, expect them to be a lot more competitive. I applied for Telluride this year and made it through the first round, but was ultimately rejected, I believe they accepted less than 10%, though I'm not sure.
