Summer School and Acceptance

I want to attend UCR but am having some trouble in the academia department. Due to my stupid decision to slack off during junior year, my current academic grade is 2.72. With my frosh GPA's being in the 3.8 areas, I would think it looks pretty horrible.

I was talking to a friend and he is planning on taking summer classes at UCR, thus allowing the school a view at your work ethic in college-classes and allowing you a better chance of applying and entering that school. He said they don't really look back at your HS years that much now that they have records of you at their campus.

Can anyone confirm it's validity? If this is so, I'm pretty confident I can get into UCR.

It isn’t listed on the list of first-year admission factors from the UC admissions board.

That’s what they look at, in that order. Who knows, maybe a 2.72 will get you in. I’m pretty sure you need about a 3.0-3.4 in most cases.
Actually, I think you need a 3.0 to apply…
You could look at CSUs or CCs.
