Hello, I'm a UC Berkeley Fall 2010 admit (political economy major). I'm taking summer school at my community college to fulfill a prerequisite major requirement. My Conditions of Admission states this regarding spring semester classes:

"You must complete all UC-transferable courses in the Winter and/or Spring 2010 terms with a 3.0 or higher GPA and no grade lower than a C. Immediately contact your Admissions Officer if you will not be able to meet this condition."

I did that (amazingly too! I bumped my C in calculus up to a B by getting a 98% on the final. Don't mean to brag, but even I couldn't believe it). What I'm asking is, do these conditions apply to summer courses as well? That is, do I need to maintain a 3.0 GPA for summer and get no grade lower than a C? This shouldn't be difficult, but it still worries me. This is all the information they have on summer school:

"You may not attend summer session 2010 for the purposes of completing a minimum of 60 UC-transferable semester units, IGETC, or UC Reciprocity requirements. However, if you choose to attend summer for any other purpose (major requirements, courses of interest, etc) you must notify your UC Berkeley Admissions Officer by email and your final, official transcript must be received in our office by September 4, 2010."

Also, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be OK, but I have a cumulative GPA of 3.429 right now. If I get a B in summer school (I'm taking one course worth 3 units) that shouldn't bump me below a 3.0, right?

You do need to meet that condition for the summer class too, I’m going through this exact thing but doing fall classes at my CC too because I’m a spring admit! But yes, you need to have over a 3.0 and no grade lower than a C. I’m not sure about those grades affecting your total GPA but I think it would get added in there (don’t think it really matters though, since you’ve already been admitted). I asked my admissions advisor this and my CC counselor, but I recommend you ask as well just to be sure!

I apologize for coming into this thread a little late but I just caught it today while doing a search as I have similar concerns.

I am a prospective UCSD transfer, looking to major in Human Biology. I had to start at a lower-level math since it was never my strong suit and I didn’t qualify into the course I wanted on the placement test, which threw off my entire plan on transferring out of a CCC in a timely manner. A lot of the sciences I’m required to take for my major’s lower-division courses have math pre-requisites.

In my attempt to play catch-up, I’m looking to take a math + chemistry next summer, start Calculus 1 on my last spring semester at CC, and finish up the series by taking Calculus 2 during the following summer just prior to transferring to UCSD in the fall. I’m not taking Calculus to fulfill the IGETC, but instead, to tackle my major’s lower-division course requirements and to complete a course series before transferring. Maybe UCSD has their own rules, but will they (or most other UC’s) accept my Calculus 2 summer-just-before-transferring credits, and will it count as undergrad credits/units when I finally attend UCSD?
