Hey guys, I'd really appreciate your input here. Over the summer I have the option of going to a six week, free math and science camp sponsored by the NC School of Science and Math, or I can take courses at NC State for college credit. I can't do both because the schedules overlap. What do colleges like to see more? (that won't totally decide my decision but it may have some influence)

Thanks.

I'd personally camp, but w/e...

I think with those options, the prestige factor is about the same - one isn't significantly better than the other, and it won't really be that of a big factor.

I'd just go with the camp to interact with others, meet new people and pwn..I've done nothing but epic chill over all my summers (and schooldays, too, admittedly), but last summer I was forced to go to this 2 weeks camp for sports and it was pretty awesome meeting the people and all the fun stuff (poker nights, gaming, hawt chicks, etc).

But maybe it's not what I have in mind, with something called

I think you can take college courses during your HS years, it's what you'll be doing all throughout college, and you're not very limited, but camps have...a certain limit and time factor.

Long post (which took me 15 sec. to type, but oh well), apologize, but more info may be helpful - vague two choices I have no idea but to arbitrarily pick camp.

Yeah thanks, camp is the way I'm leaning at the moment. Here's the website if it helps -
Welcome Summer Ventures

It's math and science but it's supposed to be lots of fun and activity-based as well, and that's what some of the people who've gone that I've talked to have said.

One of the reasons I would like to take the college class during the summer is that 100-200 classes taken during the school year count as honors weighted, but 300-400 classes get AP weight. Classes during the summer don't count. So if I get my 242 Calc class done in the summer then I can take a higher level class in fall. I'm trying not to make this too much of a GPA/rank game but sometimes it's hard to resist lol. Also I want to get them done as early as possible before I get senioritis.

Thanks for the input, any others?

A small bump or gain in GPA/rank is overrated, and so many people take college classes.

The camp thing seems unique, fun, and a valuable learning experience. I'd go to the FREE camp.

I'd personally go for the camp.
