Hey I'm planning on transferring to SCU next fall and am pretty confident I'll be accepted, but I won't know for sure until summer school has already began. I was wondering if anyone knows if they accept credit from other university's or community college's summer school programs or if you have to attend their summer sessions for credit? I just wanted to take micro, which I know would transfer over easily, or accounting, but I'm not sure if that's a "course of trade" or something that wouldn't transfer.

You most likely need to check with the school. If you're taking micro, I'm pretty sure that would transfer.

My understanding is that if you are transferring, they review your transfer application and determine what will and will not transfer to their program. Once you matriculate at SCU, they will NOT accept transfer courses from elsewhere (we asked that specifically because DD is taking a heavy science load...wondered if she could take a course here and there during the summers...answer was no).

you'll run into problems if you are transferring from a semester system to the quarter system. Also be aware that only certain classes from your major will transfer. SCU used to have a strict policy that a majority of classes in one's major had to be taken at SCU. If you've looked at the core curriculum, some of your classes my transfer into that.

I'm just finishing up my freshman year and only did a core cirriculum for the most part. macroeconomics, math, bio, english, history, psych, spanish, politics, and a specific honor course. I'm think they'll all transfer over, but some may only transfer as electives instead of fulfilling a major requirement. I thought I heard that they didn't allow summer school from other universities though, just making sure.

Once you matriculate at SCU, I do not believe that they will take credits that you take during the summer. DD specifically asked that question and was told NO. However, she does have a course from our CC that she took during her senior year in high school BEFORE she enrolled at SCU, and they are giving her an elective credit for that.

My understanding is that the classes you take elsewhere the summer before won't count towards your application to the school. You can, however, petition them to be counted afterwards.
