Summer science program 2012

I am an international applicant.Just received email from Mr Bowdon informing that I am on waitlist. Disappointed.
What are the chances of getting to admit list.

Congratulations sherrylee!!!

Us poor U.S. applicants still have awhile to wait. sigh

@LonelyHapax…

THX!! I am looking forward to this summer !!
It is my first time to go to U.S.

Mr Bowdon’s mail tell me completed applications were over 600

International, got rejected. Was my only chance, but was sophomore, so…

Where are you from sherrylee?? Which campus are you going to?

O_O Damn. That means only 12% of applicants will be going… 3 more weeks of waiting.

@escrow: are you sure that we’ll find out in 3 weeks? I thought that they usually notified people in mid April

@qwerty23

China. My campus is in New Mexico… Only 2 Chinese students got in this year.

Good luck to your guys ! :)

If anyone else got in too, please tell me your facebook ID…

My facebook is : sherry_lee1994@************

I am eager to meet you all this summer! :)

I got accepted too! I’m a sophomore, and currently live in India (so I guess that makes me an international applicant?). @sherrylee, my campus is NM too!
I can’t wait until SSP starts! Although, my IGCSE Finals are getting over a couple of days before the 17th, so I won’t have much time to pack, etc.
@supereight, I don’t think my stats were that great at all, but I know my essays were pretty good, and were able to bring out my (obsessive) interest in astrophysics.
Anybody else got in?
Also, @sherrylee, I’m not on Facebook, but it would be cool to talk to you somehow, before SSP starts!

@amgirl: Looking at last year’s third thread, first results started coming in around April 7. But it seems spread out over the next week and a half or so from there.

600 is a small drop right? I’m worried about my essays now cause I didn’t talk about astrophysics. I’m definitely interested in learning about it but I haven’t really done much. Though I watched contact on a plane once

This year has much less posts than previous years’ discussions…

D: I WANNA KNOW IF I GOT ACCEPTED OR NOT NOW ):

Wow so we could know about a week after spring break! That’s sooner than I thought. Hopefully that’s the case. Thanks escrow

international, rejected…sad, wish you guys have a good summer there! anybody who is also international applicant and get rejected? seems like i am the only one…

@Desafinado I think which subject you are interested in is not that important. My favourite subject is biology and I only have my biology teacher’s evaluations. And I know nothing about astrophysics but I have straight A on all subjects that offered in my school and have great motivation to learn a variety of things. Talking about different things does not hurt. I think they are just looking for students who have POTENTIAL to make a difference in astrophysics.

That’s good then. I have reccomendations from my physics and statistics teachers and I talked about how I was interested in stat theory in the first question. But I have As and good scores so I think I show potential

US applicants wont find out until early April as far as I know. Until then its a waiting game. Are we required to send a physics teacher recommendation ?

Not required but if possible you should’ve
