Isn’t there any accepted international student on this thread except OnAHyperbola?
Did any alternates get contacted by Director Bowdon yet? I know it’s only been a few days but the wait is agonizing
@curiousscience Not yet. I’m expecting alternate offers to start coming after the 19th (it seems that admitted students have to commit by then).
Biggest worry for me is that RSI apps came out early this year(Feb 27) so the number of people admitted to both here and RSI are very low(because nobody would turn down RSI basically)
@Sinphirho2 That is true… but I feel that RSI people would still have applied to SSP beforehand just in case. But then they would have notified Director Bowdon to turn down SSP, after which alternates should have been notified. Or maybe SSP adcom is taking more time to decide who to admit? Anyways, I feel like the only people who would turn down SSP is being admitted to a better program such as MITES or deciding to do specific research at a program such as Simons or Garcia.
@curiousscience hopefully that’s the case…good luck on trying to get in from the alt list(and hopefully me too). And also MITES came out today, so maybe chances might have spiked a bit today/tomorrow? Then after that’s the 19th(or maybe 20th since they may take some time in processing).
@SinPhirho2 When were alternates usually offered admission last year?
Hmm…judging from past posts, it’s really random, based on the time people decide to not attend. I think they contact them ~1 day after, but in the end it could range anywhere from sometime now to like the end of april(more slim towards the end though, maybe like a bell curve?)
Really hoping I get in…
Accepted to CUB! Anyone mind adding me to the group chat for SSP?
IMO essays seem to be an important part of the application. Did anyone else that got in submit competition scores (AMC, F=ma)?
Also what is this lack of sleep I hear about D:
Did any of you alternates email Director Bowdon about updates on our chances of being admitted? I don’t want to email them in hopes that I can avoid pestering them too much.
@curiousscience I did, and he said the domestic rolling process is still on. So there might still be a chance for the US students. But the international selected students chose to enroll, their yield rate is high so international waitlisters don’t have a chance anymore.
Now time to wait and hopefully God drops a huge Easter egg on me in the form of SSP…

@Sinphirho2 Are they choosing alternates randomly or by strength as an applicant?
I think by strength? It may also be ranked…
Anyone asked how big the alternate list is for astrophysics applicants?
@florencewelch666 When did you email him? After US decisions came out or before?
Has anyone made a group chat/FB group for NMT yet?
@triacontahedron There’s a Facebook group titled SSP 2017 @ NMT (or NM Tech) that you can request to join.
@curiousscience After the US decisions came in. If you’re an US applicant, you still might have a pretty fair chance, as the enrollment process isn’t over yet.
Anyone got their financial aid decisions yet? Btw, for any of you guys does it just have the total price/deposit and due date (4/19) but nothing on the aid decision released part? I’m not sure if they just forgot to check that part, and they actually did review it but decided to give me no aid, or if they just haven’t released the decisions at all yet and are just putting the total price as a placeholder.
@triacontahedron The same thing is appearing for me. I think it’s just there as a placeholder as well. The “aid decision released on” doesn’t say anything yet, so I don’t think a decision has been made. I’m hoping that the decisions come out tomorrow. It says on the website that we’ll have three more days after that to decide. I think for us aid applicants they’ll understand if the enrollment forms aren’t in by tomorrow.
