@ineedmoresleep My acceptance email said something about “for only 96 spots” so if astrophysics is both ~36, I would assume that biochem will be ~24.
Oh… I thought all programs were 36 people… The Program Description found here (http://www.summerscience.org/files/SSP%20Program%20Description.pdf) says enrollment is limited to 36, so maybe SSP changed their minds or something?
@chemella101 yeah my email said the same thing. I just wasn’t completely sure if Astrophysics was completely filled with 36 people haha. It should be around 24 though
@curiousscience fewer people probably applied to Biochem since it’s the first year, so maybe they accepted fewer people to maintain the acceptance rate? I don’t know
The plan for this year in Biochem was 24 students from the start. See the press release from November announcing the program.

I suppose there is the possibility that if things go well this year, the Biochem program could accept 36 students next year. I don’t know details about that.
@ineedmoresleep @Ynotgo I see… I just feel that going for a low acceptance rate wouldn’t be their goal, considering that in the beginning of SSP the acceptance rate was quite high, and decreased over the years due to more interested applicants. They probably just want to start small and assimilate the professors to this type of program. Still hoping that I have a chance…
@chemella101 @ineedmoresleep My mind went to 32 each program. It might be different, though.
I am still on the Biochem waitlist haha. Losing hope.
@ineedmoresleep My email stated something along the lines of “your 35 colleagues”
Perhaps SSP is still changing the amount of people who can go right now. I really hope by next week there is a concrete decision.
Didn’t see the other responses. Oops. I think I remember seeing 36 for each astrophysics and 24 for biochemistry somewhere on the website, anyway.
Did everyone submit their health clearance form already? I never got an email with a link like the instructions say but it says it’s due tomorrow…
@chemella101 My mom received the email for mine. Maybe one of your parents did.
Hey guys, I know I’m late to this discussion, but I just wanted to say that I have been accepted into SSP at the CUB. Also I noticed that the Travel Plans form is due today, but my family is not ready to buy plane tickets at the moment. Do they really need to know the flight number this early?
@“imperfect prodigy” Congrats! I would email Mr. Bowdon to let him know and ask him what you should do.
@chemella101 Are you talking about the campdoc Health Profile? Mine says it’s due May 19.

Does anyone know if alternates will receive an update any time soon?
Does anyone know when we will find out who our roommates are?
Good luck to you all! I’ve officially been rejected by SSP. It was a wonderful ride filled with hope and excitement, and I would’ve loved to spend a summer with any of you guys!!
Hi guys, I got rejected from SSP this year as a sophomore (obviously expected). Would it be possible to make it in next year as a junior? My stats are pretty good except for the fact that I might not even get internship this year. What would you guys think my chances are for SSP and RSI? I heard they consider people that applied the year before more.
