Do you guys think it would have been a bit counter-productive to have put my Bio / Chem AP / SAT II on there if I actually applied to the Astroyphysics Camp? Would it hurt to only be in AP Physics 1 at the time of application with no standardized AP/SAT II for Physics?
@jalopsy3 Mid-March, according to their website. @gkdudtlffj I applied to biochem
Also good luck to everyone!
@Kabasi I’m in the same boat as you. I’m taking AP Physics 1 this year, so I don’t have any AP/SAT Subject Test scores yet, and application decisions will be made before we even take the AP test. I hope it doesn’t have a negative effect…
@triacontahedron I hope… I only took AP Bio and Reg. Chem because that’s what’s in succession at my school to get to physics, not because I liked them more than physics
@Kabasi I only took regular physics (AP Physics 1 not offered, neither is Honors Physics).
But, in my previous research experience, I studied a lot of astrophysics in tens of lectures and my background in math should help compensate
@szhang9246 I applied to YSPA as well!
results for internationals came out…
ohmigod ohmigod I got in!
Congrats @OnAHyperbola! Hopefully I’ll be joining you once results come out for me next month!
@jalopsy3 Did you get in!
Congrats to all international applicants who applied!
Sadly, no. I’ve got two other programs, competitive though, to look forward to.
@jalopsy3 That stinks. Have fun with the other programs!
@OnAHyperbola Which campus did you get accepted into? I’m hoping for CU Boulder.
Thank you @frazzledazzle I’m at CU Boulder.
I really can’t believe it. I hope you get in too!
And to all those who got in congratulations!
@OnAHyperbola Colorado looks amazing! I found the blog from the students who were at CU Boulder last year. It looks like a lot of fun! https:// ssp2016cub . wordpress . com/ (without the spaces)
@OnAHyperbola congrats on getting in! Hopefully I can get in too XD.
@jalopsy3 good luck on the other programs!
@OnAHyperbola congrats! do you mind sharing your stats?
@Sinphirho2 Thanks a lot!
@jjoojjoo I’m not too comfortable sharing on the public forum but would be glad to if you’ll pm me.
How much is the camp? It costs a lot? It’s birding camp or not?
It may considered to be a lot(I think it was around mid 5ks), but the opportunity is probably worth a lot more than what the money denotes. And if it isn’t a boarding camp, then the international applicants and people from other states(like me) would probably cry…
Interestingly enough. Although the fee is $5k, i think SSP pays $8k for each student. So you are getting a really good deal.
Ofc, you can always try to go for financial aid if necessary.
Shout out to the international students, anyone got their decisions yet?
