Summer Science Program 2019

@Sanah Are you an international applicant?

yes i am an international applicant.

When are US applicant results going to come out?

need to speak to ssp biochemistry alumni. can somone PM me ? need to know program structure and research details at the program.

@Sanah All groups get a different target enzyme, but the research is similar. It is possible to submit to competitions, but there will be 24 groups with projects very similar to yours. Academic preparation is explained in the handbook.

@Xiadongdong69 that ID claimed he/she got accepted into Garcia and SSP, maybe other programs as well, as an international applicant. He/she asked the same question in different threads. I believe it’s a ■■■■■.

In terms of prestige (defined as difficulty to get into + quality of accepted students), it seems
SSP > UC Davis YSP > IOWA SSTP = BU RISE > UF SSTP.

This is based on the CC discussions. What do you think?

SSP is definitely a top-tier program, considering is affiliated with Caltech and MIT, as well as numerous top-notch colleges and organizations.

How does it compare with clarks?

So do domestic applicant results come out tomorrow (considering the fact that international results were released 3/7)?

**decisions

The website says " mid-April. but who knows?

Previous years’ decision dates:
2018: 4/9, Monday
2017: 4/11, Tuesday
2016: 4/11, Monday
2015: 4/10, Friday
2014: 4/10, Thursday
2013: 4/10, Wednesday
2012: 4/11, Wednesday
2011: 4/7, Thursday
2010: 4/12, Monday

Based on this, decisions will probably come out sometime between 4/7 and 4/12.
I doubt they will come out tomorrow, though, since it’s a Sunday.

@methanoicacid thanks for this

@methanoicacid really pr0!!!

Can someone rank these programs in order of prestige? SSP, HSHSP, Clarks, YSP at Davis, BU RISE?

@methanoicacid I honestly did not consider that… Thanks!

Good luck to everyone who applied!

No problem!

I’m not really expecting to get in because 5+ other students from my school applied, and I feel like they are definitely more qualified than me.

Just curious, what are everyone’s grades and what program did everyone apply to?
