Oh jk, my packet came in today. They gave me $2200 in aid!!!! So it costs $1550 + travel expenses for me! Yeah, uh, I'm going. For sure.

Also, to whoever was talking about the SSP handbook not opening, it's because the spaces in between the words in "SSP Participant Handbook" were replaced by +s, I think. Just take out the +s and replace them with spaces or %20s or whatever and it should work. At least, that's how it worked for me.

And come on, guys. If nobody'll make a facebook Socorro group I'll be forced do it. :P

that is good to hear about the waitlisted people, nice to know there is still some hope. I don't think I really have anything new to add though...

yeah, i am disappointed i wont get to meet you tomjones.

but alas! soccoro is better. since obviously the adcom decided to choose to put the coolest people there puawhahha (lol). its all cuz we get to be next to white sands and stuff and have the greatest time ever muwahahaha.

the day when ojai is better than soccoro is the day when pigs are smarter than people. puwahaha. lol

wow wishful thinking much?
ojai..is in california..
so cal at that..
next to the beach..
with REAL sand..
and smarter people overall.
yea i saw the socorro group. you should get a pic. who's the person who made it? (as in, cc username)
and which one are you?

smarter people? as if? the sandiness of the hidden power of the deserts of new mexico shall enlighten us until knowledge pours out of our ears puwahahhaa. and the beach is way overrated tomjones. you should be well aware of that. muwahaha.

hmm? coin made it. i have no idea what you mean by "which one are you?"

and how do we view the participant handbook? the link mr. bowdon gave me doesnt work D:

christ...tomjoneistheman...for the love of God...please stop your "OCDness" (just joking...)
you seem to be checking the forum every hour, possibly every minute! :P
though I will definitely congratulate you on your acceptance.
shivers and clatters teeth at the thought of tomjoneishtheman asking me a question every other minute in Ojai
:P

my best wishes to those who got in in soccoro and also to those who got deferred, rejected, waitlisted.

Ojai has more field trips, more speakers, and gets more people into better colleges. (based on a small sample size). There's more beautiful scenery, hills right behind campus waiting to be explored, and trips to the beach and points in LA (most astronomy/science-related). Then again, there's also the fact that I'm an alum. (not conceited at all).

Ojai 07 also beat the alums at the softball game.

:)

You guys will have a great time at either camps (I have friends from Socorro too, and they loved it) and people who have been rejected- There are plenty of alternatives which are just as fun/educational/whatever. I'm sure all of you will have productive summers.

Waitlisted people: a LOT of people came off of the waitlist last year. Don't give up hope.

I'll have to refute every single thing she says.
Socorro gets better field trips, better speakers, the people get into better colleges, and is just better overall.

But the point is, both are really great places. Although, I cringe to acknowledge that Ojai is even passably tolerable.

So, at the moment, CC has a 56% percent admit rate (10/18 - counting waitlists with rejected, not counting deferred people). That's lower than last year's :(

I haven't gotten my packet yet - probably because I live so far away from NC...

My parents are now saying that they should have applied for financial aid. I gave them the fin ap, but they never filled it out - grr...
