Summer Science Program (SSP) 2009

^ They ask for a yes/no within two weeks after you recieve your enrollment materials. So roughly 3 weeks after email acceptance you have to accept/decline offer.

I applied to SSP and CMU AP/EA.

They were actually equal in my mind for a long time. CMU made up for not being SSP becuase it's free, my family could drive there, I could have gone to Badger Girls State (both SSP sessions conflict date-wise with it), gotten free college credit, and could have done a CMU college app EA (they are normally an ED-only school).

But when I was accepted to SSP, the only thing running through my mind was "I HAVE TO GO!!!" So I am :)

EDIT: 800 post thread! W00t!!

yep I'm def. going to SSP. more people from Ojai..join the fb group pl0x

^ just admit that Ojai's FB group fails :D

holy moses. I haven't been on CC for a while... and i come back to this. its like the devolution of man or something!

congrats to everyone who got in, and good luck to everyone who's waiting!

ok, I'm ready for summer to come already!

it fails because tomjones decided to make it exclusive and not an open group =D. that way, other ojai people might feel tempted to make their own group because of the superiority paradox that tomjones created in the ojai fb group. muwahaha.

I really hope that not all the spots were already filled - that will be horrible - people who turn it in have NO chance of getting in, basically. Earlier rounds should have better chances, but one in a later round shouldn't have no chance.

-this from a third rounder :)

I agree with you. It wouldn't make much sense to set a deadline and then have all the spots filled up before having a chance to even glance at the third round applicants. So I'm pretty sure they have a set amount of positions available for third round applicants.

And I also feel that those waitlisted have a chance for a spot in the third round.

Ok..I made it public so now everyone can join.

The postal service said my application was received on March 19th, but I have not received a response from the about my application being complete. Has anyone who has mailed around this time received a response from them yet?

@joeschmidt, mine was received (according to USPS) on march 18, but i have not yet received a response either. I guess they're still busy.

Thanks book_worm for answering!

I'm thinking that the final results will come out sometime in mid-April. The 17th?

Side note: I'm listening to the Caltech webinar right now. Caltech sounds so cool!

Lol- SSP-2009 rejected awesomities! | Facebook

velleity: 2nd rounders got them 2 weeks after, so I would assume 2 weeks?
I hope they come soon :)

Does Mr. Bowdon ever call applicants to help reach a final decision?

I think I'm deferred. The email said I was on the alternate list but 'you may be offered admission in the coming weeks', so I guess I still have a chance.

PSAT of 228, btw.

other stats? ECs?

question:
if i just received an email saying that my application is complete, does that mean that i'm not missing any parts?...or its just that they received my envelope?

^ I think that means they have all parts of your app.

Just got my packet! LOL at the roommate questionaire...

Aw, I want to do the questionnaire. Are there awkward questions like preferred roommate sexual orientation- "Straight", "Homosexual", "No preference"?

yeah yaeh, whats on the roommate questionaire?

and for people whove gone before, how many people do you room with?
