<p>my reply here is a little delayed, but iām a sophomore applying as well!
I agree that Iāll be more prepared next year, but Iām giving it a shot this year - if I happen to get in, next summer will be free for other opportunities!</p>
<p>^Exactly. There are a lot more programs that open up as a Junior, so getting SSP in this summer would be ideal. Then again, Iād miss out on a research mentorship (assuming I can land one locally in the first place), but thereās still one more summer and SSP is not something to pass up.</p>

<p>Wow, the people applying to SSP this year are amazing. Iām pretty sure, at this point, that I have next to no chance of making it. Oh well, but I would love to have the opportunity to meet one of you. Iām a US applicant, waiting in suspense like the rest of you.
Stats wise, not the best. But like previously mentioned, I am very math inclined I just love math and programming in general.
Anyway just wanted to let everyone know, good luck, Iām sure this April fools day will probably be interesting.</p>

An April foolās release was entirely speculation by collegezomg. IMO if patterns of release stay true to the past two years and the schedule described in the application, decisions will come out the second week of April. Thatās just some more speculation, though x)</p>
<p>I did it before, but everyoneās getting really tense, so Iāll tell everyone again how you donāt need to be amazing at everything. Iām a US citizen but I live overseas. Iām still not sure if I was put into the international pool, despite being a US citizen, because I sent my application in a day later than the international deadline, but I told them I was applying as a US applicant. But then, I got a response at the same time as all the other international students, so Iām kind of confused.</p>
<p>Anyway thatās sort of besides the point, but not entirely; I think the acceptance rate for Internationals may be lower than for US applicants, but Iām not sure. If it is, what Iām going to say will be of even greater consolation.</p>
<p>Iām not sure whether to just say my scores and other stuff straight out, because on the one hand, those who have gotten or will get rejected may be frustrated that someone like me may have taken their place, but on the other hand those who are still awaiting a decision may be relieved slightly at how unremarkable I am. Nevertheless, here it goes. </p>
<p>First off, even as a junior I didnāt get into AIME (but I did get into British Math Olympiad). Secondly, my PSAT score was crap. I got 58 in reading and 76 in math. I only improved slightly on SAT with a 650 in reading and 800 in math. I havenāt done any physics competitions or anything like that. I donāt play a musical instrument or have any special talent in anything (I tried to make myself seem pretty good at soccer in my application though haha). I didnāt mention that I lead any clubs at school or that I had much of a leadership role in what I do. The only things which were kind of in my favor were my school transcript, teacher recommendations (I hope :P) and my essays. Iām quite surprised that I got in to be honest. But Iām glad they realized that my scores didnāt necessarily reflect my actual ability in the classroom and elsewhere in math and physics. </p>
<p>Anyway Iād be happy to here how much you guys own me in SAT and AMC and other things

<p>My SAT score on my transcript was 1780 while the ones I sent today were 1940ā¦I hope itās helpful x_x Definitely not measuring up to what everyone else has, but I hope they can see my passion through my essays :)</p>
<p>Drewsuf: you sound kind of like meā¦ I didnāt really mention many ECs, just interest in math/physics, and I didnāt make AIME this year (due to some major stupidity on both AMCs x_x). So I guess Iām more optimistic about my chances now.</p>

<p>Missed USAMO by 1 question on the AIME and waitlist for the US Physics Camp (never happened) but I did indirectly include in my application that I will successfully make both of them this year, would that make any difference or would they consider me as someone who just is par in math/physics but not good enough?</p>

<p>Darkinvader, your math/physics ability sounds more than good enough. But they put a large emphasis on your teacher recommendations, essays, and overall how your personality comes across to them, so hopefully you did ok there :)</p>

<p>Nash1995, thereās no way of knowing why you were rejected. Perhaps you simply werenāt good enough, or maybe you didnāt show enough interest in your essays, or in science and math in general. </p>
<p>Worrying about it now doesnāt seem helpful, and you can always apply next year :)</p>
<p>Also if anyone is concerned with financial aid, I can tell you they are extremely generous!</p>
