Summer Science Program (SSP) 2015

@southpaw45 that sounds really challenging but exciting! I haven’t seen what exactly a college class is like yet, so that would be a new experience. thank you!

for the relaxation part I wrote about shopping…

@Aliiiiiiceee‌ Lol, that’s awesome. I wrote mine about…(going to be vague)…fitness/family.

Anyone know what the acceptance rate for ssp is?

@Aliiiiiiceee‌ On their website under Admissions FAQ, SSP says, “In 2014 we received 754 applications for our 72 spots.”

So that’s around 9.55% back in 2014?

@Southpaw45 I notice the website says no personal computers are allowed. Just wondering, what would happen if you ever needed to google something or talk to family members (skype? or just general phone calls)

@Necrosympath‌ you’ll have access to the computer labs almost 24 hours a day, except during lectures/field trips (at least this is how it is at NM. No one knows anything about Boulder but I’m going to assume it’s the same). If you need to google anything you can use those or your phone if you have data.

For phone calls you can use/borrow a cell phone. If you’re trying to call international, ask a TA (they all have laptops) if you can skype using their computers.

The point of the no computers rule is that it forces everyone to work in the same spaces. This is good for bonding (so much late night computer lab craziness) but also makes it easier to collaborate and get help. The TA office is in the same building and at NM there is a computer lab right across from the TA office.

what’s a typical candidate’s stats like?

Passionate.

only 2 to 3 weeks left! (only…) I don’t understand how people wait for college admissions, waiting for SSP is killing me already

Anyone know when the results come out?

Mr. Bowdon just told me last year’s decisions were released April 10th. They’ll probably send them out around then.

Possibly less than 2 weeks left!@#@!#@!#!@#@!#@$!#%@#$!$@^#%$!#%!@#

@losAlumnos (not an actual member, lol): Do y’all know if they email you when they’ll be releasing decisions?

I just spent an hour reading through this thread and now I’m anxious about this application all over again. Someone say something that will make me feel good as I wait for decisions to be made.

@adrimayjunejuly‌ Hi

@Newdle‌ hi

10 more days!! Excited :D!!

Around a week left!!! What are your guys’ plans if you don’t get in?

sit at home and cry

I also applied to WTP at MIT and Carnegie Mellon’s Summer Programs for diversity AP/EA. If I don’t get into any, I’ll probably just be a camp counselor.
