I don’t think it is either. Last year my kid got into SSP, I sent the 1st payment in and the next day he was accepted into MITES. He thought the deadline had passed and didn’t get in so he told me he’d do SSP in CA. When he got into MITES, I called SSP and told them he would be attending another program. They did ask which one. They wouldn’t refund my down payment, even though I called them within 48 hours. So I got the tax deduction instead. MITES is free. You only ned to provide your transportation arriving and leaving. MIT thinks highly of SSP.

How’s the Boulder Facebook group? Did anyone break the ice yet? In NM group, no one besides Mr. Bowdon has posted anything even though we have around 20 students. Perhaps we are in the shy group

@fusioneer98 I’m super talkative at times, so when I’m in the CO group, there’s no way it won’t be broken :P… Or not… I don’t know, haha.

@fusioneer98 Yeah, I think it’s easy for us to talk one to one but not breaking the ice in a large group that we haven’t met yet. Plus I don’t knwo what to say hhh~~

Also, just from reading these comments, it appears that everyone else accepted range from hardcore STEM students to basically scientists. As I’m actually neither, its very surprising that I got in. To emphasis, I’ve had minimal experience in STEM at best, and my focus has actually been in music the past three years. Hmmm…
Perhaps this is a good point for those looking to apply in the future: demonstrating your passion for science matters more than your prestigious background.
Does anyone know when the Health Profile is actually due? Is it 5/1 or 6/1? Because the CampDoc link says both…
