Summer Science Program (SSP) 2020

@twentyAA email yabois2021@gmail.com with your phone number and name, they’ll add you

just did

rejected from astro

took that fat reject from astro, so now i’ve been rejected from every research program i applied to  i hope everyone admitted has a great time!!

WOWOWOWOWOOWO IS THIS REAL. ASTRO BABY!!! i cant get groupme tho… are we down for a discord server? feel like thats more flexible too

for accepted astro kids, if you’re more discord-y… https://discord .gg /faFgxXZ ok apparently cc doesnt allow links so i stuck a few spaces in there, remove em and we’ll be good to go!!! WOOOHOOO!!

rejected from biochem :frowning: i have very similar stats to those of you who posted, so i think something about my essays got me rejected  i hope you guys have fun!

@starstray its going to be too confusing with two group chats

but whatever XD

As an alternate to astro, I think that stats don’t matter as much as the essays do. My stats were similar to the majority of SSP students:
1520 SAT with 800 in math
1420 PSAT with 760 in math
800 math II subject SAT
760 physics subject SAT

Ultimately, my essays are what cost me. I made my essays well-rounded like I was applying for a college instead of making them all about science/STEM. I think I only talked about science-related stuff and my ECs in physics in essays one and five (RIP).

hey guys!! i got rejected from biochem (fat L) but i’m a sophomore so i plan to apply again next year!
my best friend who’s also a sophomore got in to biochem though (she’s not going so if any of you are on the waitlist her spot might open up) so i’ll post her stats here for anyone looking to apply again next year:
sat : 1570, 800 ERW 770 M
unweighted gpa: 3.95
weighted gpa: 4.3
bio m : 800
stem intensive school in freshman year - transferred back to home school - ap phys 1 equivalent done in one semester, hon chem equivalent done in one semester, hon alg 2/hon precalc compressed course, ap intro to computer science, ap csp
she transferred back as a sophomore and is taking honors chem again, honors bio, and honors precalc, as well as programming 2 (ap computer science a)
i know these stats are pretty crazy so i’m honestly not surprised that she was admitted. i hope everyone who was admitted has an amazing time and i hope to have a similar experience next year! everyone on this thread is amazing in their own way and i hope you all realize that this rejection does not define you !!
also please know that stats aren’t everything and these are crazy high so please do not overexert yourself trying to get to these.

… does your firend go to gsmst by any chance

Has anyone created a Facebook page?

I think SSP creates the facebook page. But I can add you to the groupme chat. send me your name and phone number to yabois2021@gmail.com

@YaBoi2021 thanks I’ll send it tomorrow

no haha we go to wootton high school in maryland!

also - would you guys consider ssp or apl (applied physics laboratory) more prestigious? my friend is choosing apl over ssp and i was curious as to how they compare!

also for this - Montgomery Blair HS STEM program and then Wootton HS (home school)

admitted RSI but rejected SSP biochem (Asian male)

rejected biochem… feel like crying lol
