Well, I don't think that its the myspace that's the root of all evil, but the stupid kids who are evil. Why the hell would you put plans about your actions (bad and illegal ones at that) online? It doesn't make any sense, whatsoever. But I guess those kids are stupid. Heh; Personally, I like having a myspace. I use it mostly for the blogs but its strange because a lot of the people that you know (well, the people at my public school) are on it and you can just surf from one person to another. Its insane :P and helluva fun (which takes time away from my studying cough) Granted, some people do take advantage of myspace but hey, as long as I'm responsible about it haha.

Dude. My parents are really, really mad at me (lock = broken TT) for more than one reasons and so, I ran away (erg, snuck away. no, just went away. no one really gave a h00t) from home to the public library (walked!) and haven't eaten (anything!) since last night a 9 PM. And its almost 6PM here TT

I'm so hungryyyyyyyyyyyy but i have this vain pride that won't allow me to apologize to my parents. They broke the lock to my freakin' room. My mom threw my shoes at me. Yeah. Scary o_o and I can't find myself to apologize. Not unless they apologize too. Hmph. I'm a bad kid, but my parents are psychos! This is the reason why I turned down a $1000 for this other summer program to go to SSP. Away from my parents for six weeks...will be sweeter than money :)

12 more days till SSP! THank god...........Someone rescue me!!!

the illegal actions are carried out for the purpose of showing off and getting attention

thats why you put it online for people to read

those people who threaten to do these things ENJOY the attention. and so thats why they are so dangerous

i turned down $1500 FOR ME for SSP in which i HAVE TO PAY $3300

so your investment is well founded

asian parents throw things like shoes, bags, remote controls, food, utensils and they slam doors

You could sneak into the librarians back room, they usually have instant coffee and crackers and other librarian food back there (at least they do at my library... and yes, it was a dare lol)

If you were in my town I'd totally go drive out and get you and bring you food

Do you have a friends house you could go to? or a relative's house or something?

Yeah I know what you mean about surfing myspace from one person's blog to another and another and another through the friends pages grins just because I don't have a myspace page doesn't mean I avoid them alltogether....

and yeah... there are a lot of really stupid people at my school. But I'm glad that they're stupid, because if they were evil (wanting to blow up a school full of their classmates) and smart enough not to put their plans up online, then I'd probably be smithereens right now.

Hang in there for 12 more days...

are we having any dances at SSP?

im bringing back CTY Canon:

1) American Pie; Don McLean
2) Forever Young; Alphaville
3) Stairway to Heaven; Led Zeppelin
4) Istanbul (Not Constantinople); They Might Be Giants
5) It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine); R.E.M.
6) Tunak Tunak Tun; Daler Mehndi

we have 12 days and 10 more pages to fill!! lets go lets go post post post!

I LOVE dances. Though people get annoyed sometimes when I run around and make people waltz with me...

grins

pooor Ahra :(
if anything, you can always come to our house (it's pretty close from where you live)
but seriously, you should get back to your parents: i'm sure they didnt mean any harm to you
and if you are mad at them, take a revenge, but remember, there is no revenge so complete as forgiveness ;)
and we all are looking forward to meeting you at SSP :)
be good :)

as for dances, i waaaaay to clumsy, waaaaaay to short, waaaaaaaaay to ugly (especially after yesterday's haircat :) ), and waaaaaaaaaaay toooo fat to dance :)
so, unless you're suicidal (i hope not), i wont advice you to dance with me :)

hehe
life is goood :)

shadowdancer, i'll take this waltz as i am a beginner in ballroom dance

Hey I'm getting a haircut on Wednesday! Well a just a trim really. My hair is waaaaaay long, to be specific, to my waist, and the ends are getting kind of yucky.

So did we ever determine if there actually is going to be a dance? I geuss it seems like an obvious sort of activity to plan if you have bunch of teenagers lol.

I've never taken a ballroom class in my life, but there are waltzes in nearly every big ballet party scene ever (think the parents from the Nutcracker, the people at the birthday party in Swan Lake, the people when they wake up in Sleeping Beauty... to name a few) so I can waltz. And I can polka, because my grandma taught me lol. And salsa, because my substitute french teacher taught our class last year when my normal french teacher was out for a week. Electric slide too... my math teacher taught us that last year grins oh and ballet too, but that doesn't usually come in handy much at dances.

Yeah it should be interesting... we're all smart people... the people who are stereotypically most likely to stand dejectedly by the wall and tap our feet to the music at dances as we try not to watch our classmates, who spend less time on homework and more time socializing, embarass themselves...

let the stereotypes thus be shattered at SSP. behold...

thats right smart pantses

its time for revolution

we need to rise and break stereotypes

yeah shadow.. it will be interesting!

i can't dance... i don't even know how to dance. you guys are gonna have to teach me in two weeks!

Lol. I can't dance either.

I cant groove to save my life, and that's really an understatement.
I can do the electric slide (yay!) and the YMCA dance. And that's probably it. BOO>_<

ShadowDANCER, YOU MUST teach me how to dance!!:D

oops... I forgot to put the YMCA dance on my list grins

So, does anyone know anything about the food at NMT?

If you go to the New Mexico Tech website, nmt.edu, and click on the calendar button, it says there is a dance every Thursday night, though I don't know ihow much we're going to be allowed to interact with the students, so I don't know the situation on that really.

Also noted on the calendar is Nikola Tesla's birthday, July 10th. I'm bringing birthday candles!

AND... there's going to be a 4th of July outdoor concert and fireworks!

Are any of you depressed about missing 6 weeks of summer? I have to say I am. I kind've wanted those weeks to work on my college applications and study for the SAT and ACT. I guess I'm having second thoughts about attending.

Studying for SATs and ACTs and working on college applications is also missing summer.

Summer is swimming and running through sprinklers and lemonade and getting sunburnt and misquito bites and mowing the lawn and painting picnic tables and hiking and canoeing and swinging on swings and reading books that aren't for school.

To me, SSP is summer, because its doing work that isn't for school, enjoying the sunshine, making new friends and having a good time.

I think, to stay home and study would be to miss more of the summer than going to Socorro this summer will be.

Nicely put, shadowdancer.

Granted, yes, you and me and the rest of the SSP-ers will miss the chance to work really, really hard on boring college applications (sigh me more so since i don't have a laptop) but there will be still time to do it (we won't be observing our meteor thingies forever). Sundays, after lectures, etc. etc. I'm sure you'll get SOME studying there :) sure, it might not be much, but its something. and plus, you'll have fun. it's an invaluable experience (read the brochure!!!!!)

And the six weeks?! You're not just going to sit on your butt and play with your roommate; you're going to be learning invaluable pieces of materials that will help and affect your life in some way. studying for SATs & working on college apps are also terribly wonderful (and terribly tedious and boring), but SSP offers something that good test scores can't ever give you on your resume. SSP shows that you're open, you're excited about learning and about "sacrificing summer" for a educational purpose. Its just an invaluable experience and place you can go to meet other unbelievably motivated and intelligent, passionate students like yourself. and if the kids who are going to be at SSP - smart and dedicated - can give up their summer to attend SSP (and end up in HYPS anyway, as can be seen by that SSP site), I think we can too :)

There's both pros and cons. See. I'm taking my ACTs this weekend as a practice measure, so I can figure out how it is and what i need to work on. and yeah, missing six weeks that was going to be my time for SAT/ACT/SAT II Prep (if need to retake) is kinda depressing, but hey, we'll be learning stuff at SSP too. Hopefully :)

And since we're all great kids here, we love learning more than test scores, eh? :D Haha, I'm sorry. i just kinda rambled about how great SSP is but oh well. i'm trying to convince myself that SSP is worth giving up my summer ^^ and at the same time, trying to convince others as well. Not sure that did the trick, but I tried^^, kinda :)

I can definitely see where redparrot's coming from though. I've had this discussion before, and yes, there are FAR better things one could be doing than studying for the SATs or doing college applications. But it's not fair that someone passionate enough gets rejected by colleges simply because he/she couldn't step up on a ridiculous test.

And yes, we'll have some time to study for the SAT. But the fact of the matter is, momentum shifts towards SSP related activities. Even if we do have a 6 hour break, I seriously doubt I'd get myself off my ass and just start on SAT prep right there. You know...you guys ever do homework, and find that you get a lot done if you're at it for a couple of hours? Whereas if you're talking on AIM or something...that breaks momentum...

Besides, I'd rather hang out with the cool people at SSP. However, I can definitely understand also that I can't afford not to do anything about the SATs. Yeah...it's not my kind of test...

Well redparrot, if you're going to Socorro, I can study with you or something, or at least sit with you so that you're not conspiciously by yourself haha. Yeah...SAT studying is not cool, but I definitely need to get stuff going...like momentum...
