Hey I just wanted to say congrats to all of those who were accepted into SSP.. it is definately worth it... I was at SSP Soccorro 2006, and let me tell you it was a great experience, not easy, but very great. Let me just give you some stats... I think 30% of Juniors are accepted and like VERY FEW sophomores... um as for colleges... everyone in my class (of 36 students) I think got into an elite college/university/Ivy (like Harvard, MIT, Stanford etc) I can tell you, I was seriously the dumbest one at the program, and I got into Duke, Georgetown, Cornell, Northwestern, UVA honors and many other great places! Seriously, not that it matters, but it looks GREAT for colleges, just the fact you were accepted makes you an exceptional student... and the networking is great, I think we are celebrating 50th Anniversary just next summer in Ojai, I just went to a SSP party in New York City just a few days ago, very classy, all the alumni were very successful (quite a few Princeton kids too I might add)... look just keep doing what got you into SSP, but you guys will be all set for colleges and what not, and stay in touch with the network of great alumni, good luck you guys all (best you'll need it at SSP, trust me)

Word, Lambert! =)

I'm excited, except I haven't done any preparing as of yet...should probaby get on that... :P

Hello everyone, Ojai '06 alum here. Reading all your posts makes me nostalgic :-P You'll all have an incredible time. And Hriundeli- no way! Ojai >>> Socorro. Hope to see you Ojai people at reunion day this summer.

I must put in a word for Socorro here :D We got to go see the Very Large Array! And many other exciting field trips.

But really, SSP rocks, no matter where you go! Enjoy every minute of it! (especially the very many sleep-deprived minutes...)

From FL. Going to Socorro.

JNT are you male or female? Cause (I think) so far I'm the only female here going to Socorro lol...

does anyone going to socorro have facebook?

yeah, theres a group.

join it.

I'm female

Ok everyone....SSP has begun for some and will begin shortly for others...I'm also as excited as I was last year.....Ojai people...pls post the link to pictures you take at HVS....I miss that place......and go exploring...there are so many cool places within the campus......and take some extra blankets Ojai ppl....it's freezing cold during the night because of the air conditioning:P I've had my share of temperature shocks when going out of the room and outside..... and tell the kitchen staff Ojai '06 still remembers them!!! :) I wish I could join you guys on Reunion day....maybe next year;)....and guys...if there's any relationship going on...be careful to hide it from the profs.....they went all weird last year over some of the couples:(

Keep us updated....and pick Gyptis if it's still a choice this year...it's by far the coolest asteroid:D

in terms of a relationship, what if one were just to be like, i do what i want, or something of the sort?

I suppose it depends on which campus you're going to....Ojai will be pretty strict and some rules will be just incomprehensibly stupid:)...but I guess they gotta make sure nothing foolish takes place

Oh my goodness. I knew this thread existed and I haven't thought of looking for it until now! haha both programs have begun already, but have fun SSP people!

Ojai-ers, laugh at the Socorro people who don't get the Cali beaches =D

I'm trying to decide if I should fly from LAX back to my house in Southern California

I believe flying back to SoCal from LAX wasn't wasn't such a good idea, but since it was you, Elliott ...

RIKKK :)
Well I mean.. he did go to Van Nuys.

Wait, ClassOf09? Is that you, Wendy? Yes or No?

Hey i just heard about this program and it seems really interesting and was wondering how hard is it to get in. Is it like rsi which is bascially impossible to get in, or is it a little bit more leninet.
I am a junior
My math +science classes
frosh year- pre-calculus A/A and regular chemistry with honors A/A
soph Ap Chem 5/A/A taking SAT chem on nov 2 AP Calc AB 5/A/A
junior year Ap Physics and Ap Calc BC
SAT frosh year was like 2050 but i think i have definetly improved. taking SAT in december.
Do i have a chance for this program or is it like RSI where i have no chances there.

Well, you have good stats and everything. If you have strong ECs as well, then I think you should apply. Because your stats are pretty good, and you'll have your improved SAT scores by the time you apply.

Basically, I've heard that about 1/4th of the applicants get admitted, so that's a lot, but on the other hand, not many apply each year. It's easier than RSI to get into, and a LOT more interesting, from what I've heard about RSI. But you need to submit a very strong application.

I know for a fact though that a certain student (who I thought was SURE to be accepted) was rejected in spite of having astounding stats, so that's not really the major factor.
