How competitive is this program? Is it as prestigious as RSI or TASP? Is it a good experience? Are most of the people that attend rising seniors?

There's another thread on the front page.. I believe it's titled Summer Science Program or SSP. If you read through it, I believe you'll get a sense of what it's like.

The website is SSP - Summer Science Program if you haven't been there yet. To answer your questions it's an amazing experience and I believe there were 4 sophomore total this summer. As far as prestige goes.. most of us weren't there for that; it was truly a great experience in and for itself, but I would say that it's a step below RSI.

when you say 4 sophomores total, do you mean people in between their sophomore and junior years? or do you mean rising sophomores?

There were 4 rising juniors, the rest were rising seniors.
Again, I'm not 100% sure, it could've been 5.

is acceptance to SSP binding? like if you get in, do you have to attend?

Both my children attended SSP. It is not as competitive as RSI, but it is quite competitive. Most of the students end up at top schools like the Ivys, Stanford, MIT and Caltech, but it's hard to say whether it helps to get into one of them or the admissions people at SSP are looking for the same things as the admissions staff at top schools and these students would have gotten in anyway.

I would say SSP is very competitive. I know a student who was rejected from SSP but attended RSI. It sounds like an amazing program.
