Did anyone actually get one that said that they weren't accepted?

Nope still waiting...

Got my acceptance package today... will be attending session A!

We have already been accepted and these packets are the ones with registration forms, what to bring, etc.

I guess I will break the ice, I did not get into the Summer Seminar even though they said i have an "excellent application package and you have the potential to become a very competitive applicant to the academy we regret we are unalbe to offer you an invitation to attend this year's Summer Seminar due to the limited number of participants we can invite."

So i am pretty much devestated. I have worked for so long I took on a part time job, top 10% of my class, got a varsity letter, raised my ACT four points. I guess ill just take it as im stupid, who knows. Congrats to all those who made it.

I was one of the one's who was waiting for an acceptance. Yesterday, I received the registration forms and the congrats letter without any email or prior contact. For those of you, who haven't heard anything yet, keep hanging in there.

Don't get down on yourself. Less than half of each incoming class attended the summer seminar. I'm sure if you work hard this next year and don't give up you will be accepted into the class of 2012.

All that you did will help on your Academy application.

Some of the best applicants don't get into the Seminar.

Don't be discouraged over this lil bump in the road.

AFAbound- i didn't even apply for Summer Seminar and was selected this year. Summer Seminar doesn't make or break the deal- it just sweetens your application. But it's not essential. And you're not stupid. In fact, i'd say you've got an excellent chance at being accepted at the Academy. That being said, I'll see you next year (that is, if I make it through doolie year :P)

AFAbound- Hey man, I'm really sorry about Summer Seminar. But as it has been said before, it is not the end. You've got another half a year to better and improve your resume. Look to the future, learn from the past, and use this temporary roadblock to strengthen your resolve and prove them wrong.

Right on, great advice.

Congratulations to everyone on their acceptances! You're going to have a wonderful time! :)

I just got my packet of information for SS. It will be so hard to choose just 9 of those classes! It looks like it will be awesome.

Yay! I got my acceptance letter on Saturday for the first session. :)

Congratulations, that's awesome! I'll be going to the first session too!

Well AFABound, I didn't get in either. This sucks. I got cut from the baseball team because of politics this year too. I don't think I have a chance in hell at getting accepted next year because I'm not good enough at any other sports to make the team my senior year.

Do what I did at the end of my baseball career - go out for Track. Anybody can run, and with some practice you'll be amazed at your progression. Not only that, but the extra running will really help during the CFA and eventually the AFT. If you do try it and decide to stick with it, you can run cross-country in the fall of your senior year as well.

Im just still mad that I have worked so long for this. What really gets me is one of my friends does not play any sports, has one leadership position in CAP, and I am higher than her, I have way better grades, class-rank, and test scores. I even had letters of recommendations for the Summer Seminar. I contacted my senators and congressman last summer and I updated the Academy once every couple of weeks when something changed. It just feels like all that hard work was for nothing. I know it is not but that is what it feels like. I have worked out everyday since last summer so if i went to the Summer Seminar I could make a good showing on the PFT. It is just so frustrating, dont get me wrong, I know my work was not in vain it just feels like that when I feel someone less deserving is going. I even helped her get in contact with the ALO for our area and I would try to update him as much as possible but he is the harderst person to get ahold of. Im just so lost right now cus of all the dedication I put into is gone for the moment but I have a feeling it will come back stronger than ever.

Was your main goal the summer seminar or getting into the Academy?..

Durglas- In reference to Petko's suggestion, that's exactly what I did. I got cut last year mainly because of politics, so this year I decided that I had had it with politics and baseball so I played indoor+outdoor track. Over these two seasons I've dropped my mile time by about 30 seconds, and I can expect even more improvement.

Take what you have learned from this disappointment, and channel it into your application. Nothing can be done about the past, you can only move on, take what you have learned from it, and use this knowledge to never repeat it. Keep on truckin' man, you'll get there.
