Are there an financial aid or scholarships for summer seminar? I got into session C but don’t know if I can go because of money…
Also what are the best workshops I should pick?
And what size shirt/shorts should I get because I don’t know if they run big/small etc?
I am usually a small regular t-shirt and small or size 3/5 shorts (like soffes)

Thanks!

Have you received a packet for Summer Seminar? I seem to recall that last year there was a number you could call if you needed financial assistance.

Workshops: Pick what interests you. ALL the workshops I attended were outstanding. One of the workshops that interested me the most was the Behavioral Science workshop (I held the BRAIN!), but all of them are awesome as long as you want to be there.

Clothing: The sizes run true.

Congrats!

On the online forms section, once you accept, there are measurements that you can follow...waist size, chest size in inches. Measure yourself and pick the appropriate size.

Also, my 17 yr old son is trying to earn alot of money for a summer study trip to China. Last weekend he spent 3 days outside selling Lemonade. He earned $620 and picked up 3 jobs along the way that will bring in another $175. He's at a different location tomorrow with Lemonade (minute maid cans), Coffee, and donuts. His sign reads: "Lemonade for China Study Trip". The community were throwing donations at him and he sold out of Leomonade. Imagine what a community would do if they saw "Lemonade for Air Force Academy Summer Seminar".

SWEET!! I would be happy with 20 bucks after a lemonade sale!

And congrats on Summer Seminar Hopeful :)

A note about the clothes, in my case, if your name was at the end of the alphabet, you got large everything no matter what (I guess they ran out???) Not sure how knowing this ahead of time will help, just thought I would put it out there

AcademyHopeful20...I guess I'm in a similar spot as u but only difference is that my parents are unwilling to pay for it and I have to pay for it by myself so thats why im tight on money...I'm picked to go to Session C...but if I can't pay for it I'm going to have to decline..but what I do know is that to save money I'm gonna ride greyhound there :(

Does anybody know where/which application page the phone number for financial aid/scholarships is on?

To singapore mom: Make sure to pack extra shirts cuz he will be sweating like crazy whether its beijing, shanghai, guangzhou, hong kong....its hot, sticky and humid. mosquito repellent helps, deodorant and body spray helps, and a small towel to wipe the sweat from walking in china...i walked the forbidden city, great wall of china, etc.

Ya, except at NASS my name was in the middle and instead of XL's or L's, I got extra smalls in everything and couldn't fit in any of it. XS sweat pants do not fit someone who is 6' 2"!!! Course it is Navy so i probably had too hight of expectations ;)

My oldest went to USAFA SS in 2007..He's 6'5 160#..everything fit fine. He didn't wear any of the shirts we bought (nice Lands End polo) except for Travel Day. Seemed the kids wore the provided polo with a clean undershirt everyday.

Youngest son just got his acceptance to SS on Friday. He'll have just a couple day turn around until China. lil_3laiin3laiin: Yep, we're used to the humidity (singapore for 3 years and son plays Football in SE Texas!)

Update on Lemonade Funds? $1150 in two weekends. It's amazing what people will do for a motivated kid. To all y'all who need funds...sell lemonade, coffee and donuts! Trust me, it works. And he's picking up odd jobs through these contacts. Fox News Affiliate here in Houston did a 2 minute story on him on Saturday. I think there's a craving for good news around here!

lucky, i wish i could make that :) Tell him to keep it up though! :)

singaporemom: Congrats to ur son on getting in and earning that much money...thats alot of money...

i think i would try to sell stuff...actually im gonna plan a fundraiser piano concert...and have friends come :) only problem is that I just have to be discreet..my parents wouldn't help me with anything...lol...they actually said they would do the exact opposite of helping to prevent me from going...

I applied on Jan 29. I was interviewed by my liaison officer on Feb 14 and told during the interview I was an excellent candidate for SS. Today my LO told me that I will be notified on Mar 2. Is this a sign that I did not get in ?

It's weird how different places do this. My son never talked to an ALO at all, did everything online, and found out he was accepted just by logging in again. What happens when you log in - what message do you get? Maybe your ALO knows but is keeping it a surprise?

The online page says "application under consideration" message. It is discouraging. Or maybe not and I am just anxious. Guess three more days won't be too hard to wait out............

I had the same message from my ALO after doing a phone interview. Except he said I probably wouldn't know until APRIL 2nd. That was agony for me. It turned out i got in to SS, and the Academy as I am currently a 4 dig, so just be patient.
