Summer Seminar Resume Example

Hello all. Hope you’re all having/had a good holiday this year.

I’m working on my summer seminar and congressional applications over Christmas Break, and was wondering how some of you layed out your resumes. I don’t want to be dry in mine, but I don’t want to undersell myself either :)

Thanks and everyone have a Happy New Year. Be Safe.

I think I used the sample outlines on the Academy website. Pretty sure.

Ha! I didn't even know they had samples...I guess I'm real observant. :)

Bullet point formats are great. I grouped things into major sections like academics, extracurriculars, lathletics, eadership, volunteering, etc.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Oh, forgot to ask this too.

I took my ACT is December (couldn't make the October one on account of our Cross Country Regional Meet). Do you think I'll get my scores back in time to submit my SS application?

The dates ACT scores are returned (by that i mean up have the scores up on internet....which, I believe, is all you need. Becuase for at least last year's S.S. they didn't require hard copies of your scores) should be on their website. I think its like three weeks. So yeah, you should have them back in time.

Nice. Thanks. I'll get on it tomorrow.

Under Academic Achievement, do I just list the name of the award or do I have to include who represents/authors the award?

In the Civic Area, I could list volunteering and such, but do I have to include hours/years of service, or who organized the project/activity?

Pretty much same for work/job? Should I just list what I've done, or should I include contacts and people who administered during my employment?

When I submitted my resume for SS, for the academic achievement part at least, I put some of the more technical things about my class schedule because if I remember correctly, they don't ask for official transcripts or class schedules. I put the number of advanced courses, the number of college-credit courses, AP classes, stuff like that. Remember that this is you trying to advertise yourself to the selection panel. In otherwords, if you have done ANYTHING but think "Nah, it's not that important, it won't help at all" PUT IT ON ANYWAYS. The only reason to omit anything that you've done is if you've by some act of a higher power reached the character or word limit of the resume. In that case, highlight your best traits. But when you have to space, everything is just another notch in your totem where any one of those notches may be the deciding factor.

I'm not sure if I should go in order of importance, or chronological order.

My leadership, as well as everything else, has been revised, but leadership seems to be the most confusing.
